Hi, I'm on Arch
Then your question belongs in the Arch forums. These are support forums for Linux Mint, of which Cinnamon is merely a component.

So what you are saying is,,,,,either buy a new laptop or go to a different distro that works on old computers, like,,,www.linuxandubuntu.com/home/5-lightweight-linux-for-old-computers. Pretty much, except @smurphos' advice might be worth taking before you make a decision. Unfortunately the base ker...

It just makes unnecessary work and headaches , where a " sum over all particles " approach would work fine . It's even simpler if you treat the mass of the Sun as a single particle. I don't know why, but that reminds me of this one... "you know you're a mathematician if you assume a horse is a sphe...

Re: Add more hard disk space to the system

My / partition is running low on available space and I would like to add, let's say 100 gb more. How can this be done ? First you need to decide where that 100GB is coming from then shrink and/or move partitions from within a live session. You ought to do a full backup though before you do anything...

" Calculate the extra distance arising from " out-of-plane " excursions by the solar system . .... remember to show all workings in the margin . " Indeed. Gee...no it doesn't. You mean, I've gone even further than that? Also, I did not include the nearly 1.75M miles I have driven in my cars.

It also doesn't include any Astral Travelling, or otherwise spacing out...

For 18.3 the quick fix is to downgrade to 4.4 kernel. I'll leave to you to guide chazb through that process.
For 19 the quick fix is to downgrade to 18.3. Your hardware's advanced age is the likely cause.

From your .sig. Does that include your partial trip around the outer edges of the galaxy, and does it include the up and down motion of the solar system in relation to the centre of the galaxy? If not, your calculations are a bit off.

Re: intel optane memory

sorry guys but bcache doesn't mean anything to me. bcache is what you need to make use of the optane device. A larger SSD will not make any difference. What you need to find out is if your machine supports NVMe, and if it does then you can you can purchase an NVMe SSD that is 3x faster than your op...
