Re: Mint 19 Cin virtualbox win10 ipod issue

kernel is 4.15.0-24-generic. After some fiddeling I found that it is virtualbox that does not see the ipod (in settings/usb) at all. It may well be VBox but that kernel is also a source of major woes so it might pay to eliminate it as a possible cause. You might try dropping back to 4.15.0-22 or ev...

Re: Canonical quality control

Maybe Canonical Inc/Mark Shuttleworth should temporarily postpone or cancel the next releases, eg Ubuntu 18.10 and 18.04.1. I think they's get slaughtered by the community and the press if they did that, and it would, in all likelihood, seriously impact the value of Canonical and its plans to go pu...

Re: Mint 19 Cin virtualbox win10 ipod issue

virtualbox You don't say where VBox was sourced from. If it was using apt install from the repos then you've installed a very old version. You may want to remove it and do this: sudo nano -w /etc/apt/sources.list Add the line: deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian bionic contrib ctrl...

The switch between tabs in Firefox ( and even more in Vivaldi) is quite slow too. I was previously using Mint 17 on an older Asus laptop and did not encounter those problems. Is there sometihng I can do to fix them ? Please post the output of this terminal command: inxi -Fxz Enclose the results in-...

Re: File Copying Configuration Question

So, my question is: How to I change the configuration so it just keeps copying the other files, and leaves the ones in question until the end, so at least most of the copying is already done and the process isn't halted? man rsync For example, to mirror a directory: rsync -avh --progress --delete /...

Re: Nextcloud Installation on Mint - Creating RAID Setup's

Just wondering if anyone could advise on installing/setting up RAID within Mint, it'll be used within NextCloud in the longrun. If you can spare the cash, I use and highly recommend hardware RAID. You can pick up a single HW RAID card for under $US60, this for example , but you'll need to buy two S...

Re: Howto enable hibernation with swap partion on Linux Mint 19

Is there a good way to check if hibernation is supported? The only suggestion is to search in the internet for bug reports. It's in the link I gave you. Step 1... In the end it always comes down to trial an error No, it does not. which is basically what is suggested in your link: "sudo pm-hibernate...

You can't do it from win7 because you'll be running from win7. What do you mean by "Won't let me re-size the Win7 partition"? Please be more specific.

Re: Howto enable hibernation with swap partion on Linux Mint 19

c. Hibernation is known to cause problems on some computers. The only thing I would suggest is that you add a small section on how to test if hibernate is supported on a particular machine. See, for example: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2017/10/enable-hibernate-ubuntu-17-10/ as there's no po...
