Re: What sends noobs running back to Windows?

So, no virtual machine or dual boot for me. I have no need for them. I think that comes with experience. I also think that the initial weaning period is the toughest for newcomers. Much like smoking, some people can hack being Windwoes free for a day or two but then come the URGES!!! to fall back i...

Re: IBM to buy Red Hat

Well, I would not be surprised if the Canonical will sell themselves to Apple and Debian to Google. I would be surprised, and if they do that, I will likely start using a Red Hat derivative. There is no reason for Google or Apple to buy a linux distribution, but there are reasons I wouldn't be surp...

Hi Linux Mint developers!! :D :D :D :D :D :D Who? This is a support forum. We rarely get devs here. Cinnamon desktop is only a component of Linux Mint and has its own place for bug reports and feature requests. Of course, it's good to air your ideas here before going here to make it official .

Re: Won't boot on Ryzen 5 2500U without "nomodeset"

I know it's easy to make permanent, but that's not my goal. I had to read your post several times and to me it reads as if it is your goal, which has to be implied because you don't actually state what your goal is anyway. Please post the output of this terminal command: inxi -Fxz Enclose the resul...

That won't work. ~/.msi-klm is undefined
Could you elaborate on this? That line works fine for me when I run the sh file in the terminal.
Yes, it works because ~/ is your home path, but when running under systemd it's not being run by you. Like I said, use the fully qualified paths.

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
#initializes the backlight for the keyboard
cd ~/.msi-klm
nodejs msi-keyboard-CLI.js -c green
That won't work. ~/.msi-klm is undefined. Drop that line and use the fully qualified paths to both nodejs and msi-keyboard-CLI.js.

You are in a room with two mysticals. One will always tell the truth, the other will always lie. They both know which icon will explode. You are allowed to ask one single question of the mysticals without knowing who is who. What would be your question? I would ask one of the mystics, "If you were ...

You might want to check /var/log and delete any old logs. If the logs are very big then you should inspect them for log spam and error messages.

Cheers.
