Re: Mint 13 System Requirements

Thanks for your reply. What was happening is that Mint installed itself on an SD card that it saw as an HDD. My netbook won't boot off an SD card :-) After removing the SD card and installing Mint, it ran fine. When I hibernated Win 7, I now get the following message instead of the boot menu: error...

Re: Mint 13 System Requirements

Both version of Mint 13 ran well from the USB - but when I installed along side Win 7 for dual boot, I get no boot option. I've run the Boot-Repair tool and that did not fix this problem. I had previously installed JoliCloud next to Windoze and it provided me the boot option. Any ideas? First recov...

Re: Mate 1.6 released - Someone already tried?

I don't know why is that. May be because you have not fully updated to Mate 1.6 because Mate 1.6 looks like this http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ri7sPSbRONk/UVxGeldicjI/AAAAAAAAO1A/gj0jV2aOfwc/s1600/mate-desktop-1.6_3.png Its menu has Application,Places,System without a search box. If I can get my old Mi...

Re: Mate 1.6 released - Someone already tried?

Just upgraded to Mate 1.6. I am using MINT 13 mate with compiz and emerald. They are working fine but I did'nt like few things.. 1) The new Mint menu does not have a search box where I could quickly type name of an application and search it. Also I did not find a way to change the background color ...

Re: Mate 1.6 released - Someone already tried?

I've using latest mintMenu on Mint 13 with MATE 1.6 and have found that right mouse click on menu entry in Applications page doesn't work - mintMenu does minimize back to the panel after doing clicking. At the same time in Favourites page the same right click invokes the context menu as it should b...

Re: Mint 13 System Requirements

Mint 13 32bit + Mate 1.6 on (ooooold hardware):
ECS K7S5A (with my BIOS mod - recognizing procesors above 2200/xp/mp, ram >1GB) + Athlon 2400xp + 2GB RAM + GF FX 5200 + Audigy 2ZS
No OC.. System works without any problems.
Yeap, this is old machine, but for my "testing/modding stuff" is ok.

Ok, what is with SATA? Turned to legacy mode? And.. paste Your logs PLEASE! kernel-log and system-log. Without those info, any problem diagnose or help is like a lottery. Did you check the MD5/CRC of iso's after download? On this hardware Mint, Ubuntu, Debian etc. should work without problems. Win S...

Re: problem with 4 partitions win7/mint14.1 cin32 install

Where did You installed Grub? On sda1? eeeehhh.. wrong ;P
Install them directly on sda (not on sda1 or sda2..)
Now use this to fix Your Grub bootmanager:
http://www.webupd8.org/2011/06/boot-rep ... ssues.html
:)
Boot in Live CD, install Boot-Repair, and fix your Grub.

Re: Mate 1.6 released - Someone already tried?

PPM on MintMenu -> properties -> tab "places" and turn off "show GTK bookmarks". Next go below to "own location" and add Your download folder. If this don't work is another solution.. Turn ON "show GTK bookmarks", Open your /Home or any other directory in Caja. From the menu at the top of the window...

Re: problem with 4 partitions win7/mint14.1 cin32 install

Label your partitions as You wish :) For Linux there is no difference.
Size? Hmm.. also freely as you need.

I have two hdd's.
sda - for Win Seven:

sdb - for Linux:

Grub is on sda in mbr.
All partitions are primary.

Re: problem with 4 partitions win7/mint install

There is a limit: MAX 4 primary partitions on ONE hdd.
Try create extended partition and next some logical and install linux on them.
Should work :)
Ps.: use Gparted from linux Live CD/DVD.

Re: Mint 14 Installation problem

WHERE I WRONG? I READ THE MANUALS, POSTS. Just ask "Uncle G" :) First of all.. Go in to Your bios, turn your SATA HDD controller to LEGACY/IDE mode. Second.. Now boot your machine from Live CD/DVD/USB and add at end of the kernel line, option "noapic". And then try to install Your system. You can t...
