Re: Firefox tabbed browsing issue

Yes, clicking the FF icon causes a new (another) instance of FF, but the new instance substitutes itself into the tabular position of the original instance of FF, and the original becomes unavailable/inaccessible, until the new instance is closed. There is only a single tab on the FF browser, where ...

[Solved] Firefox tabbed browsing issue

There is a single browser tab in the Firefox browser. Clicking the FF icon to open another instance of FF (another tab) will cause the new tab to be superimposed over the single tab, and the original page will be unavailable/inaccessible until the new page or tab is closed. I expect the tabs to line...

[Solved] Daryna nVidia driver issue

I just did a fresh install of Daryna on this Asus A7N8X-X, 1200 mhz Athlon, 20 GB hdd, 512 mb PC2100 ddr, RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model Pro 64 vid card. Even with 512 mb of ddr ram, I had scroll lag upon first boot, so I elected nVidia restricted drivers, and I believe nVidia-glx-legacy drivers were inst...

Re: clock glitch

Suggestion:

1. Provide a dialog in Mint liveCD to select UTC or local time (during boot).
-or-
2. Make local time the default for Mint liveCD, as do most other distros. If no, please explain why Mint liveCD must use UTC as default.

clock glitch

This weekend I had the opportunity to give a friend four Linux live CDs. As he is having difficulty burning ISOs, I was glad to loan him some CDs I had prepared, and I will probably just let him keep them since versions are changing soon anyway. I also had the opportunity to show him several distros...

merlwiz79,

No rush. Take your time. Cassandra Xfce works fine, looks great. Who knows, maybe Santa will put Daryna Xfce under the tree this year.

UTC or Local Time?

goetzkluge, Check this thread to correct your clock time. Even if your desktop clock is correct (temporarily), your BIOS time may have been changed to an incorrect value. http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2257 The BIOS clock in some file/web servers may be set to Universal Time (UTC) ev...

2. panel size should be ~35 pixels, not 20-something I'll settle for 32 pixels. (Default is 29 pixels.) Hard to gauge size because bottom edge is dark, like black. 7. will not play audio stream (low bandwidth) from CBC Radio: IIRC this stream played "out of the box" with Cassandra Xfce. What gives?...

RapidShare

I installed mintUpdate 1.6 and all is well, though I havent been notified of any updates so far. I want to complain about RapidShare.com for being a pain in the A. In the first place, there is some misrepresentation about being free, or being a 90 day trial, and getting the general runaround. And th...

I completely removed update-manager, which action also removed update-notifier. After installing mintUpdate everything seems to be doing fine. There is a lock symbol in the sys tray that says "Your system is up to date" However, looking at synaptic, of the seven packages that pertain to "update-", t...

updates

I am running Cassandra Xfce CE, and I wonder what should I be doing about updates from Canonical. When I read the threads in other parts of Mint forum I keep seeing references to Gnome and KDE, so I'm not sure what to do in Xfce. I took a look at the Software Portal and mintUpdate isn't there. What ...

functional nomenclature

Linux Mint FOSS Edition Alternative names could be Linux Mint FLOSS, Linux Mint Freedom, Linux Mint Open Source. The name "Linux Mint Light" is misleading, because light better describes Xfce or similar desktop environments. Also, a version isn't really light in a conventional sense just because so...

edit for local time in Cassandra Xfce/solved

Actually, what I need is the terminal command for editing a config file. I have the same issue as in this thread, the only difference is, that was Mint Bianca Gnome and now I need to edit Mint Cassandra Xfce. http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=universal+local&t=2257 What is the e...

Code: Select all

open a terminal and type "sudo ubiquity --desktop %k gtkui"
When you get a chance, would you be good enough to explain this command in detail. Also, I would like to know where you got it.

Bug #107259, first reported on 2007-04-17 by Colin Watson:
Xubuntu partitioning can fail because ubiquity does not prevent thunar from automounting new partitions.
And so, davidwillis, your problem was what? a bug in ubiquity?

If you look at the Home page, you'll see there are four Cassandra editions, you left out Light. There may be more coming, who knows. It's easy to say you can recognize the original Mint, cuz you already know which one it is. I dont think an unguided newbie easily knows which one to pick. So if I gui...

If liveCD works and install fails, I'd say the problem is on the hard drive: partitions, permissions, Windows XP. Perhaps some peculiar interaction between WinXP/NTFS and Mint/Linux. Google it? During verbose liveCD boot, did things hesitate or hang at any point? I guess not, from how you describe r...
