Re: Annoying display issues

1. I installed VirtualBox, and it required me to perform a password-protected procedure on my next reboot (I believe something to do with UEFI allowing a driver to run???) I am very unsure of what this did, but Virtualbox works fine now, and prior to this procedure it would not allow me to load the...

Re: How To Create a System Image With Macrium Reflect Rescue Disk In Linux Mint.

I have never used the "cloning" option. I have always made an Image and stored it to a folder. i have never, ever, had a problem with restoring that image to a HDD or to a SSD. I used it a lot over the past 20+ years. Well, Considering I had the same issue when using DD its got to be some type of w...

Re: Why laptops are cheaper than desktop and mini PCs?

Simply because desktops are a real workhorse. They have larger power supplies, Better components and in general are upgradable. Laptops really are for mobile users. The processors and all the electronics are geared for power saving. Therefore, They do not perform as well as a desktop. They are good ...

Re: How To Create a System Image With Macrium Reflect Rescue Disk In Linux Mint.

Ok, So one more question please. If your cloning one drive to another, Such in my case with a mechanical drive as source and a SSD as the target, Can you use the bootable rescue disk (USB) to do it? Or do you have to install it on every pc? I just now made the bootable rescue usb disk and did a che...

Re: How To Create a System Image With Macrium Reflect Rescue Disk In Linux Mint.

I have been reading thru this thread and have a quick question if you please,

Is MR faster at cloning one drive to another then using DD? I have about 10 workstations to clone the original mechanical hard drives (1tb) to new SSD drives. I figure with DD its going to take 8 hours to complete.

Re: PC Mag is now telling users about leaving Windows... For LM!

as always, the article didn't mention the "install along-side of" option, & only mentioned the 'replace' option, but that may be an better option, for those who are wanting to move away from the Windows System. 8) I bet they didnt mention dual booting because windows updates has a nasty habit of ki...

Re: Burning important data what software and any more advice?

I really do not burn cd/dvd/blueray any more. Most everything goes on a flash drive. However, I did for a long time and used K3b to do it. Ive never done a blueray though. Seems like they came in and went out fast. Personally, I would rather put the videos on a usb flash drive. I also kinda found th...

Re: [SOLVED]caja convert mp4 to mp3 script

I got it. Only problem is that it leaves the *.mp4 extension on it. However, It does add the mp3 extension so it looks like this: *.mp4.mp3 If anyone is interested here is the short little script: # Script for caja to convert video file from mp4 to a mp3 music file. FILE=`echo -n $CAJA_SCRIPT_SELECT...

I installed KeepassXC and the Firefox addon but I am having trouble using it. I entered a couple of logins/passwords into the Keepass database to test it out, but when I go to a web site I get the message "No Logins Found". I have KeepassXC open and unlocked when I do this. Thanks for any help prov...

Re: Backup Daily to a Remote HDD Securely

I provide backup to a server at my shop for clients. Most of my clients are on Windows. I had to develop a way to securely backup to my shop server from across the internet. This is how I did it. I started with setting up openvpn on the server to allow the various remote computers to access a raid5 ...

Ive never really bothered with the community site. So, I had to look at it and see what everyone is talking about. Well, To me it looks like a sight full of statistics and thats about all. Lets just leave things alone here and any work that needs to be done should not involve the looks. I like the i...

Thank you for the reply. Ill certainly look into that. It would be a big help in configuring things on the android box from my computer instead of having to go upstairs, fire up the tv and android box and fiddle around with the remote. Too time consuming ;)
