One of the moderators on the nVidia dev forums has just posted a msg saying that support for 3.10 kernel is in the next driver release:

Re: How to get consistent action of scrollbars
According to System Settings, I'm using the stock Linux Mint theme. The only other theme installed is Cinnamon (I haven't added any myself), and changing to that makes no difference to the inconsistency in scrollbars. Any idea what theme I can install/use to fix the problem?

How to get consistent action of scrollbars
How can I change the scrollbars to be consistent across all applications. In virtually all applications I use, the scrollbar has an arrow at the top and bottom to go up or down one line, and clicking above or below the position of the cursor in the scrollbar takes you up or down one window's worth. ...

Re: nVidia drivers.... need help
If you have a look at https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/board/98/linux/ , you will find quite a number of threads dealing with the incompatibility of current nVidia drivers and the 3.10 kernel. There are some patches available to allow various versions of the driver to be built against the 3.10 ker...

Re: Cinnamon crashes on kernel 3.10.1
Even the latest beta 325.08 driver, released 1 July, requires the source to be patched before build to be compatible with 3.10 kernel. See, for example, https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi ... inux-3-10/.

Re: Cinnamon crashes on kernel 3.10.1
Ditto problem with 3.10.2 kernel. From looking at various logs, it looks like nVidia closed source drivers (I'm running 313.30) are presently incompatible with 3.10 kernel, so the system falls back to the VESA driver at a lower resolution, which shows me the login screen, but as soon as I login, Cin...

Cinnamon crashes on kernel 3.10.1
As I have a spare 2nd SSD, I thought I would try kernel 3.10 as it includes bcache, which allows an SSD to be used as cache for a larger slower spinning drive. So I installed kernel 3.10.1 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.1-saucy/. However, as soon as I boot into i...

Re: Kernel 3.9!!!!
Here's the script I used earlier today to update to 3.9.9 kernel. Copy the script, save it somewhere, open a command prompt, and run sudo sh <whateverfilenameyousavedthescriptas> When new kernels are released to http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/, you can update the script wit...

Re: reconmend a Two TB Hard drive
Depends what external connectors your PC has. If you only have USB2 ports on your PC, then a 2Tb drive will be pretty much a waste of time with the slow transfer speed of USB2, as it would take about two days to copy 2Tb of data. I Have both eSATA and USB3 ports and external drives. With eSATA I can...

Re: Can't add new PPAs because of JSON error
On my machine (Mint 15 amd64 Cinnamon), adding a ppa via the GUI works fine. Open Software Sources, click on PPAs, click on Add a new PPA, enter the PPA name (I used ppa:dhor/myway as a test), click OK twice, and the PPA is added to your sources.

Re: Can't add new PPAs because of JSON error
I keep getting his error when trying to add a PPA: Cannot add PPA: 'No JSON object could be decoded'. I've tried adding PPAs through the command line and the new graphical Software Sources and get the same thing so it isn't a problem with the new GUI. Here are some examples of a PPAs I tried to add...

The previous (7.0) version of GE is available from the download page at http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html. Click on the link where it says "Customize your installation of Google Earth with advanced setup", and choose the older version.

Re: Google Earth 7 north africa problem
I tried it using two types of graphic drivers "nvidia-310" and "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau". Both with same result. Also tried this version on Mint 14 before shipping to 15 and same problem occured. Maybe it's related to some types of graphic cards. I'm using GeForce GFX 550 Ti....

Re: Greeter application appears to be crashing
I switched to the "nvidia-313-updates" driver (I was using the recommanded "nvidia-310")... I did not get any error for the past 3 reboots... Is this helping anybody else ? No, that's not a fix here. I'm using the same nvidia-313-updates driver, and although I can sometimes boot...

Greeter application appears to be crashing
Yesterday and again today when booting up Mint 15 amd64, before the login window appears I get a dialog on screen saying " The Greeter application appears to be crashing. Attempting to use a different one." When I ok the dialog, the normal login window appears a couple of seconds later, an...

Re: Change logon screen resolution? pre-define username?
In answer to your first question, if you are using the Nouveau driver, you can create /etc/X11/xorg.conf to specify the resolution for the login screen. This is the one I created for my two monitor setup with one monitor rotated. However, I have since switched to the nVidia binary driver, which does...

Nouveau driver periodic hang
Running Mint 14 amd64 with an nVidia GTX650 Ti video card. Maybe once every couple of days, the GUI locks up. Sometimes I can still Ctrl+Alt+F1 to a console and login and reboot, but usually even that doesn't work and I have to power cycle the machine. When this problem happens, if I look at syslog ...

Re: [SOLVED] grub unable to boot after installing 3.8 kernel
I've found that since kernel 3.7.6 onwards, I've had to modify my kernel installation. After downloading the kernel files from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ : 1. Install the downloaded files. e.g. sudo dpkg -i ~/temp/kernel_v3.7.10/*.deb 2. Crete a symlink. e.g. sudo ln -s /usr/src/...

Re: Will LibreOffice 4 eventually make it onto Software Mang
Just add the libreoffice ppa to your repositories. Open terminal and execute the following commands:
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get upgrade

I used the same script to install...when I checked after running it, all four packages were indicated as successfully installed.
