Re: Wallpaper resolution

I always rescale downloaded wallpapers using gthumb, preserving the aspect ratio.

Re: Listing Installed Applications

I tried this (sudo dpkg --get-selections > installed-software) just to see what would happen.

It saves a file to your /home. The file had 1596 lines!

ymmv

Re: How to kill what can't be killed ?

Could you please explain "kill kill"?

I am familiar with "kill", and "killall", but "kill kill" confuses me!

Has anyone seen this?

It may be a solution to the problem. It is a stand alone downloader and player.

Re: Video downloads

Where were you trying to install from? Try it from the "software manager" in the main menu. The reason I suggested Miro is because I read your original post and tried the link you gave. It works. Install Miro. Think I'll try that now! Thanks ... I must be missing out some simple ste...

Re: LG sata optical drive infected with Bluebirds

Hi Maggy,

Google "LG Bluebirds"

There is a software/firmware update available. Make sure you get the one for your particular model.

Hope that helps!

I agree, personally I think its an undesirable feature and should be changed.

If this leaves the system vunerable, then yes.

Otherwise, it is a feature rather than a bug.
