Re: VOTE ! Mint-Y-LOGO... A New Version Of The Linux Mint Logo !
Care if i share an edit I made to this icon? This is my effort to preserve mints distinctive icon while making it "modern" My version eliminates the boarder, joins the letters like the old logo and uses the old logos colours so that it reflects the distros heritage. If Clem went with this ...

Re: Monthly News – February 2019
Yeah far better than a boring featureless circle.
Honestly I blame apple for this "material design" crap, its boring, featureless and everything just blends into eachother

Re: Monthly News – February 2019
Oh god dont change the logo to a boring flat circle, its bad enough Fedora is losing its iconic infinity logo in favor of what look more like a deformed letter P then something iconic like its old logo. https://blog.linuxgrrl.com/2019/02/06/fedora-logo-redesign-update/ This movove to flat boring uni...

GTX 1060 blank screen under Linux Mint 19.1 64bit cinnamon
Okay so here is the issue: My father has my old desktop using a core i5 4460 and a GTX 1060 6GB but on linux mint I am getting a black screen. I tried removing the proprietary drivers and using the open source ones and vice versa.... no dice. Most solutions i find online are for laptops with obsolet...

Re: Replacement KDE distros... Feedback here!
There is another option, there is Manjaro. Manjaro if you never heard of it is a distro based on Arch linux, but offers a nice easy to use out of the box setup of your choice. Its kind of the linux mint of Arch distros, offers a easy installer and a rather nice package manager GUI. It has four main ...

Re: Replacement KDE distros... Feedback here!
Personally I say dont use PClinux as its severely limited by its package selection and installing third party packages is impossible without a lot of hard work for the end user and it takes forever for a package to be approved by its packagers. For me the most logical distro to go to for Mint KDE us...

Re: End of KDE
Cinnamon is Clems baby, KDE That's pretty much all you got right. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Mint KDE. Eh I had a few issues with it, it wasnt perfect. But i think that is due to Ubuntu more than mint, again ubuntu's kde maintainers have never been the best at it. Especially compared to ...

Re: End of KDE
Cinnamon is Clems baby, KDE never really was all that good on Mint to be honest. The thing is Cinnamon in my opinion has shaped up to be a better desktop than KDE, its rock solid (unlike plasma sometimes), has a lot of great extensions, and is very feature rich. Sure Cinnamon still has its fare shar...

Re: (Not Solved Anymore!!!!)No sound on HDMI with rx480
You realise that GPU makers only cater to windows, because really this is not the fault of linux.
GPU makers really dont care about linux plus unlike windows Linux is free.
If its anyone who needs to get thier shit together its you and AMD
AMD rainbows linux over not the other way around

Re: Upgrading ??
yes stay the hell away from toshiba, toshiba pretty much disables any option to turn off secure boot and wont boot any linux medium.
Its a shame as Toshibas hardware is usually fantastic.
Go Dell, HP, Asus and maybe even Lenovo despite they install spyware in windows (that wont effect linux)

Re: Manjaro KDE, opinions?
For me Manjaro is a great distro, in fact I was running it before using Mint 18.
My issues with manjaro were more from Arch as arch is rolling and Manjaro while mostly good does inherit some Arch bugs.

Re: Why linux boot is slower than windows boot?
This thread title is a joke, my Linux Mint 18 boots 12 times fastrer than windows does.
They must have fast boot enabled in windows, otherwise its a utter slowpoke
