Re: Dropbox installer starts every time i log in.

Had to reinstall (windows drive failed, and figured a reinstall wouldn't hurt, i keep backups on an external drive), and fresh install works fine, no dropbox issue. Still not sure WHY it was an issue

Nemo is suddenly not displaying the embedded album art for my FLAC files

Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon, fully updated, fresh reinstall a couple days old, restored my backups of my ripped CD collection, all in FLAC with embedded album art. Until now the album art thumbnailed fine, but noticed earlier it's no longer doing so. Baffled. Deleted thumbnails folder, restarted Nemo, ...

Re: Nvidia GTX 970 and Mint Cinnamon 19.1, wishing to upgrade to 410 Nvidia drivers

Sorry for the late reply, i've come down sick and feel like death warmed up. Blergh. The issue turns out to be hardware related, seems i was scammed on the card, it's not a true GTX 970, it's an older card flashed to make it APPEAR to be one. I was ripped off, scammed. Currently using a frind's old ...

Dropbox installer starts every time i log in. (resolved after reinstall)

Hi all. I did a quick search and browse, found nothing resembling this, so here i am. I can't be the only one this happens to, surely. Linux mint 19.1 Cinnamon, fully up to date. Dropbox is installed (From the software manager) and set up, all configured. Recently backed up and reinstalled (I was tr...

Re: Nvidia GTX 970 and Mint Cinnamon 19.1, wishing to upgrade to 410 Nvidia drivers

Yes, and as i literally just explained, I forgot to copy that due to pain and a fuzzy head from painkillers, so grabbed that log from the Logs app, so as to provide somehting at all. Had to remove the damn thing, again, and reinstall the 390 as the 20+ cinnamon crashes were driving me batshit insane...

Re: Nvidia GTX 970 and Mint Cinnamon 19.1, wishing to upgrade to 410 Nvidia drivers

THank you for your patience. I missed copying the install log as I was somewhat distracted by nerve pain at the time, and forgot. Apologies, but the pain and drugs (painkillers and Diazepam) makes me a bit ... foggy. This too failed, and back in software-rendering mode, which causes Cinnamon to cras...

Re: Nvidia GTX 970 and Mint Cinnamon 19.1, wishing to upgrade to 410 Nvidia drivers

Once again it did not work, and can't figure why. So had to remove and purge the 410, then go back to 390. Frustrating. I nsee so many saying it works for them, and it SHOULD for mine, but fails. I doin't know if i'm missing somehting, or it just hates me

Thank you for your reply. I seem to have the same result even following your instructions. Puzzling. As per your requests: david@Hellsing:~$ xrandr --prop xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1280 x 1024, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024 default connected ...

Nvidia GTX 970 and Mint Cinnamon 19.1, wishing to upgrade to 410 Nvidia drivers (Resolved, card to blame)

Apologies in advance if I've missed something, but have been searching the boards for an answer, and nothing seems to actually apply to my question, so here i am. Please bear with me. Ben using Mint for years, very happy with it. Done the rounds with a few distros over the years, got my hands dirty,...

Re: Linux Mint 18.3 crash

I have an Inspiron 1525, and Mint seems tun fine on it. It comes with a Windows Vista sticker on it (recently got it cheap off the old owner, it was overheating, I took it apart and found a dust blockage, cleaned up,m and works great). Yours is a 1521, so assuming similar vintage. I'd see if i coul...

Are you sure your caps lock key wasn't on when entering your password either originally, or now? I've stumped myself with this in the past

You definitely have nfs-common installed on the machine? I've had a similar sounding issue before, and that turned out to be the missing culprit

I had this issue, and the culprit trned out to be some of the desktop extensions. Tried disabling extra ones, and narrowed it down to 2, whcih i removed. All worked fine since

No actual advice to offer, but wanted to let you know it's not just you. Certain sites seem to take forever loading, or come up empty for me also, then later they'll work. No rhyme nor reason to it that i can discern

I would assume not, since it's only backing up SYSTEM changes, not user ones, which are kept n your /home directory

Just to clarify, it seems to check all the repos and update the list, then gives that error at the end.
