Re: Mint update not updating

This subject has had a considerable amount of vigorous discussion already. I suggest you have a look at this thread in the Mint Update forum and see if you have anything new to add there.

Re: change icons and resize trash icon possible?

For your first question: Menu > Settings > Desktop then left click on the 'Icons" tab. Screenshot - Icon Size.png For your second question have a look at this thread . The solution only seems to allow you to choose from a limited set of symbols. I'm sure they could also be changed but you will ...

Re: We need a serious evlauation of the LMDE "rolling releas

It would be much better to just have more frequent updates (once a month? a week?) instead of thinking about complicated solutions, and solutions for solutions. I agree. I can appreciate that there is probably a lack of manpower to achieve this goal. But somehow, I get the feeling that delaying the...

Re: Add a Mirror to Software Sources In Mint Update [SOLVED]

Internode are normally good at fixing problems quickly (I can recommend the ISP to any Aussies out there if I'm allowed a plug) but I hadn't expected this problem to have been resolved so quickly (less than two days). Thanks to you all for your help and I'm glad to have been a part of an event that ...

Re: Unable to watch Apple videos

Ahh, I see. My apologies to @rmcellig. I am thick. It must be a result of looking at the the world from down under.

I shouldn't even be putting my two cents worth in now because I've not even tried MATE but, FWIW, there's no problem viewing the site on my antique machine using LM13 Xfce.

I'm sorry, I must be thick and I"m a little confused. Are you saying you are running Linux Mint 13 on an Apple iPad?

Re: Commercial Disc

G'day @Pierre, I also live in Perth and am a passionate supporter of Linux Mint. I already have a few versions of current .iso's and luckily am with an ISP (Internode) that allows me to D/L as many as I like - unmetered. A list of the versions they have on their mirror can be found here I'm willing ...

Re: Blue sky only?

Far be it from me to suggest you should keep using something that doesn't work and if Mint isn't working for you then by all means find an OS that will. It's not as if there isn't any choice. But, in defence of this forum I would like to point out the following... I don't mid fixing an issue here an...

Glad you got things going and welcome to Linux Mint. It'd be appreciated if you would please 'Edit' the title of your first post and add [SOLVED] at the end. This not only helps other people with the same problem to find solutions more quickly but also helps those trying to offer solutions by not wa...

Re: Add a Mirror to Software Sources In Mint Update

Thanks for your reply @ketoth but I was just coming here to explain what I'd done when I saw your reply. I know most of you aren't interested, but in case there are others out there as clueless as me here's what happened. After gediting my /etc/apt/sources.list file I was expecting my ISP to show in...

Re: upgrading mint

Most sources suggest that you should do a 'fresh' install to upgrade to any new release of Linux Mint. It would be a good idea if you were to read How to upgrade to a newer release in the Community pages, if you haven't already done so.

Add a Mirror to Software Sources In Mint Update [SOLVED]

My Australian ISP (Internode) offers unmetered downloads for Linux software. This is not a problem with the Main Edition (Maya) which includes the option to select my ISP in the Software Sources as follows: Screenshot - Software Mirrors.png However, In LMDE Xfce 4.8 (on another machine) only the oth...

Thank you both for your replies. The forum structure is quite confused, mainly for historical reasons. That is not a good reason to keep things in a "confused" state permanently. I understand this is being looked at but as far as searching you should look at all forums.[.. ] Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of hav...
