Re: Why doesn't brightness level persist after reboot - Cinn

My computer does not have a discrete graphics card, but rather an Intel intergrated card. And what might that card be? Don't you think that'd be the sort of information that you should provide to help people to help you? I apologise if I'm sounding a little pedantic but have you read this thread , ...

It'd be a good idea to start by reading How to upgrade to a newer release in the Linux Mint Community pages.

Which Forum?

I recently installed LM13 KDE on my wife's laptop. It's mostly gone without a hitch if you disregard possible divorce proceedings. There is just one gripe. Where should I search for solutions or post problems? Should I look here Main Edition Support ‹ Newbie Questions , or here Main Edition Su...

Re: Duck-Duck-Go must go!

I still don't understand why you think DuckDuckGo looks "ridiculous". This is Google and DuckDuckGo and ixquick . They all look much the same to me. What is ridiculous? I mean who, on earth, would ever consider calling their hours and days and weeks of hard labour something stupid like &qu...

Linux Mint Search Income

I've always been a DuckDuckGo fan and was pleased to learn that Mint now earns income through its use. I'm also an Opera fan and have added DDG as the go-to S/E in that browser using the string <https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s&t=lm> following advice in a thread that I cannot now re-locate. Further ...

You must miss out on a lot of good software if your criterion for 'checking them out' is their looks.

Re: PRINTING ISSUES

I'm not sure that anyone will be able to help you @ Encerspay if you won't provide any details. A very basic piece of information that might prove useful would be if you were to let people know what brand and model number of printer you are using. Have you read this thread , particularly point numbe...

Re: Problem INSTALL MINT 13 on Win7 Netbook

G'day libux77, I tried to instal LMDE Xfce dual booting with Win7 on our ASUS 1005PE a while back and had similar problems. I received some excellent advice on partitioning from @xenopeek in this thread . It's still working great and I'd gladly completely get rid of Windows apart from Skype; which h...

It worked for me when I had similar problems a while back.

Re: Marketing error prevents Linux boost

Make it possible to manually download once and install limitless times. This has always been possible and is actively encouraged by the various Linux distibutions (unlike Windows who only "authorise" its use on one machine for each purchased copy). Just burn the downloaded .iso image of t...

You have not provided very much information to help someone to help you. While you say it is not related to hardware, your problem more than likely has something to do with the way the software interacts with your hardware. More detail is required. You might find some idea of what might be helpful i...

Just a thought - have you checked in /root to see if the screenshot is there? Well whatd'yaknow. There it is!! It would have been nice if they'd mentioned this minor detail in the tutorial don't you think? Now it intrigues me that the screenshot works with the timer switch but does not work as anti...

Re: Can Screenshot be taken while logged out of session?

Thanks for the prompt reply @carlbriz. It always annoys me when someone (such as yourself) searches up an answer to my query that I should have found myself. It shows I wasn't diligent enough and makes me appear lazy. In this case I was in a hurry and didn't think to search outside this forum. Thank...

Can Screenshot be taken while logged out of session?[SOLVED]

I'm trying to take a screenshot of the MDM screen. I can't use the menu option because I'm logged out. My 'Print Screen' key does not seem to work either. Is it a faulty keyboard or is there another way to achieve this?

With all respect @nunol, I don't think that's what @ricklabelle is after. I seems to me that s/he wants to run the machine in the Xfce environment. They merely want to replace the Xfce menu with the Cinnamon one.

I'm curious also. Is this possible?
