Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

There is no Edge ISO for LM21. None have been released. What did you install? Uh-oh. Well, I guess I must remember my attempts to install Mint 20.3 (or whatever was the last 20 version). Sorry. Getting old, apparently... :( I only installed Mint 21.0, a clean install on freshly partitioned ...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

Do you have more than one Linux-based distro installed? No, just Mint 21.1 (and a shrunken Win11 partition I use to update my BIOS and other firmware, something which occurs very frequently given the new-ish hardware). If you do not have another Linux-based distro installed, did you install some ty...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

What is the output of uname -r ? "5.15.0-69-generic", same as the inxi. - Waiiit... I checked "Update Manager", which defaults to a page " 5.19 ", and on top is " 5.19.0-38, Supported until August 2023 ". But , there is also an entry " 5.15 "...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

The latest version is 5.15.0-69. :?: OMG!... "Update Manager" offered me kernel " 5.19.0-38 " yesterday, which I installed. Yet on inxi -Fxxxrz that same kernel is indeed named " 5.15.0-69-generic ". Yet, I checked again right now, "Update Manager" insists on...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

Your home partition is on a different drive. Maybe there is a difference in the physical condition of the two drives. Why would there? They are both quite new (<1 year old) SSDs of the same type. :?: It could , but it isn't very likely. What are you calling an "official Mint kernel"? The ...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

I see, thanks.
Any explanation/resource on why it is called "22.04" instead of "6.1.x"?

Or am I right about the uninitiated?...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

install linux-oem-22.04c I'm a little confused here, which kernel version number would that be? There is no "5.22.0-4" on ~kernel-ppa/mainline (but then again I don't see the 5.19.0-35 I'm currently using either...). I assume this is a totally different kernel naming scheme, meant to conf...

Re: My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

Thanks for your reply! 1) Not all messages on the screen are errors. 2) One can get the messages in the logs. 1. Error or not, something claiming being "invalid" doesn't sound too normal to me... 2. I've looked in the logs, and that's why I posted here, as the "Logs" program (&qu...

My RP PIO log size is invalid (???)

Since I first installed Mint 21.0 on this (then brand new) computer, on boot it always gives me a number of (fleeting) errors. It's a fast computer (i7-12700H), and I had to film the screen to be able to read them. Aside those recurring error messages, everything works as expected, so I didn't think...

Re: My nemo has gone stale... [understood why]

No, there isn't anything in the settings, I looked. It "just works". *shrug* I use my phone as some kind of USB drive-with-screen, carrying documents, manuals, schematics, all kind of things around, not to mention music when I want to relax in the train/plane. Well, it's a teeny-tiny lapto...

Re: My nemo has gone stale... [understood why]

If you connect your phone, can you see it in the file manager in Mint and can you move inside of it? Yes, indeed. But no phone/tablet (several devices, from Android 2 to Android 12) did ever ask me for a permission. Or at least they asked only once and I didn't notice (although I'm not youn...

Re: My nemo has gone stale... [understood why]

If you connect the phone, you should get asked in the phone, if you allow the access. Yes, I'm hearing this often, but I don't recall have ever been asked for confirmation, and I've gone through several telephones and Android versions during that time. And since I don't remember having ever seen su...

Re: My nemo has gone stale... [understood why]

Most likely, although since the solution I found is to just unplug-replug the phone (which is just besides my laptop), there is no real need for that. Although I wonder why this happens all of a sudden. As I said above I've been charging my phone that way since Mint 17, each and every day, and I nev...

Re: My nemo has gone stale...

For the record, and because I hate when I make a search and find threads about some problem without a conclusion... So: After a long while I managed to find out nemo would freeze when my phone (Android) was connected for some while to my laptop (for charging), and Update Manager started (The latter ...

overcome nearly ridiculous level of fragmentation in "Linux" Sure, and I fully agree with that, but you've all simply decided to ignore my actual grievance, which was bandwidth requirements (the title is a hint! :)). I'm not saying Flatpak is stupid or Flatpak is useless, I'm saying day-t...

Re: Opinion: Fatpack is too fat!...

In any case you did not know that those themes you repeatedly pointed to as supposedly some kind of argument for something were not in fact used by your native distribution. Indeed, and I did learn a lot of stuff since I've started this thread. My (only) point is that Flatpaks are too huge to be pr...

I have no list the overview over my installed apps That would be Synaptic . I can show you the full list of installed (user and system) programs, except those you have installed outside of the apt system (see below). Assuming you're a Windows defector like me, I'd suggest you stick with " Soft...

Re: Opinion: Fatpack is too fat!...

Flatpak runtimes are mini-distributions That I know. But it's a fallacy, since they are not actually entirely self-contained (like a VM): I'm slowly discovering that they do have dependencies, lots of them, and worse of all, all their dependencies have also Fatpak girth... :? So we exchange a syste...
