Re: Flatpak - "Wrong size for extra data" on LMDE 6 (Faye)
If you look at https://www.viber.com/en/download/ you will see that this closed-source Viber thing is only offered for Ubuntu or Fedora. If it relies on any Ubuntu versions of Debian packages it may not work in LMDE6. Viber also say:- Proprietary This app is not developed in the open, so only its de...

Re: making a bash script run through crontab
When you ran sudo crontab -e , you entered your password and created a crontab entry for root (because of the sudo). So all commands worked. Also - unless things have changed - doesn't cron run using the sh shell, not the bash shell? Not sure how this would interact with a bash script using sudo.

Re: making a bash script run through crontab
Should
sudo umount /mnt/nas
be part of your script, it won't work.- Sun Jan 21, 2024 3:25 pm

Re: Change grub boot order
You might want to use a VM - perhaps Virtual Box in place of the disk with the scrap installation.
I always keep a current version of LMDE as a VM, just so I can run a test upgrade when the new version comes out.

Try
This will remove old journal logs (apart from the latest 100MB).
You can automate this by changing a configuration file.

Re: Why is Firefox update always so slow?
An update takes about 15 seconds.
Which is less than it takes someone to complain about it.
Of course, if your internet connection is poor, you need to make allowances.
Surely everyone uses a mirror instead of the Mint site?

Re: How can I make saved dconf settings info 'executable'? thank you
Clonezilla is typically a small bootable application from USB for either taking an exact copy of a disks to another disk, or taking compressed images of multiple disks to a single disk. It can do other things, but its basically intended for complete backups, to produce the same disk structure. It ne...

There's a very similar (and long) thread on a similar issue at https://www.linux.org/threads/boot-is-bypassing-grub-and-going-to-windows.38373/ BTW, GRUB has always worked for me - the people I got my PC from had loaded a skeleton Windows and even though I had wiped it, I was still getting GRUB entr...

Re: Location of "LMDE 6 Faye" string
/var/log/debian-system-adjustments-adjust-grub-title.log seems to get created by SystemD at bootup time. Alternatively, you could run neofetch as a CLI program. neofetch --os_arch "off" distro will output a single line (it has a horrible parameter syntax, but it's OK for simple cases)! dis...
