Re: CPU fan problems

Broken capacitors can cause fluctuating voltage, I think it's safer to replace the power supply.

Yes, your motherboard is ATX (20 cables in the connector on the pic)

Re: Put mint debian on usb-stick

Unetbootin, a Linux tool for this, might also work. Not all distros work well, I don't know about Linux Mint. Only thing I know is that Fedora does not work.

Re: Freecom 80GB external hard drive

I have only tried it from the Live USB (DVD version on a 2GB stick) of Mint and the Live CD of Fedora. I have not yet installed Mint on my harddisk... I want to copy my data from Fedora first.

Re: how do I install a "simple" program?

Most software has a README or INSTALL text file (you might need to specify a program (Gedit for example) to open it), with instructions. When it's a tar file, usually you'll have to do some command-line work. The usual commands are: cd to directory (in Mint right-click the Nautilus file explorer win...

Re: Donating to Linux

You could also donate to the kernel.

You have to do seperate donations for everything you're using when it's developed by other people. Or choose some software which needs improvement. For example, webcam support in aMSN.

Re: Put mint debian on usb-stick

Look at www.pendrivelinux.com
If you're having Windows still installed on some computer, it's very easy to put Mint Debian on USB with their program.

Re: Rabobank Internetbankieren / Linux Mint

Het is een website, en die doen het (vrijwel) altijd prima. Rabo Internetbankieren heeft geen moeite met Fedora Linux, Mint heb ik het nog niet op geprobeerd maar dat werkt ook volgens Bolle1961.
