Re: /root is now empty...Free Space

Nope it's not a RAID, my mobo can't RAID ...ICH9 It was fine yesterday. This is just strange, and not being able to see it in 'Computer' using LiveCD, I can't mount it and save my home directory. But I'm a backup freak, so that's ok. I may try a reinstall and see what happens. The disk had been show...

Re: /root is now empty...Free Space

All of the partitions are showing up as 'Unknown' in the disc manager. It will not let me edit or change partition type either.
It doesn't show up in 'Computer' at all, can't mount it.

[Solved] /root is now empty...Free Space

I have two separate hard drives, one has windows 7 the other is Mint 11, I have the Mint drive to be the one that automatically boots first unless I do the 'choose drive' on startup. It was fine yesterday, when I booted up this morning I get a 'Read Error' I tried several times, same thing. I booted...

Re: Finding nfs on network

Are you using this from the terminal? [IP needs to be the computer you are trying to connect to]

Code: Select all

Re: Static IP won't stick

I will if /when haha, haven't had time to do anything else except deal with the windows machines that were brought in for repair. Sheesh, I just noticed that in my 'Network' folder it only shows 'Windows Network' and not this machine and my HTPC that runs Linux also. Got a Dbus error on that too woo...

Re: Static IP won't stick

Ok the two lines you listed were the only ones there, and when I read your instructions again as I was doing it, those were the steps I had already done to get a static IP.

I am at a loss, it makes no sense why the static IP won't stick.

Thank you all for looking into this.

Re: Static IP won't stick

I will give that a try altair4, as I had previously stated I had already tried the reservation with the router and it didn't work. It would still assign a different IP.
Hopefully your 'other' solution will work.

Thank you.

Static IP won't stick

OS: Linux Mint 11 32bit RAM: 4GB Router: D-Link DIR-825 dual band I am hard-wired to router When I insert a static IP including the IP, mask, subnet, dns it takes fine but on a reboot it creates a second eth0 with a DHCP setting and doesn't use the static I set. So I end up with two eth0's and the new...

Re: Gnome-3 Top panel- love or hate?

In case you prefer a single bar on the bottom, you'll surely like the plans for Mint 13: https://github.com/linuxmint/MGSE/wiki Yes, with the plans shown for Mint 13 that is most likely what I will wait for. My exploring with the controlling ex-wife type that 'Lisa' is, it's a big pass on that rele...

Re: Gnome-3 Top panel- love or hate?

Well for folks like me that wear bifocal lenses on their glasses, it's a literal pain in the neck to have to look up that far to the top for a panel that SHOULD be able to be moved. I do my best to not use the word 'Hate' as that word is misused a lot, I Extremely Dislike a panel I can't move. I don...

Re: Top pannel- love or hate?

I extremely dislike the top panel and the inability to move it, I use Linux to be able to have control of the way it looks / acts and that has been taken away in many aspects with 'Lisa' , (can you say apple?) I disliked Ubuntu when they went with the garbage called Unity and its lack of control for...

Re: [Solved] No sound Asus EeePC 1015PE Mint 11

No AlbertP it is not disabled in the BIOS, as I said in an earlier post that I checked a couple of times to be sure it was enabled. One of the zif connectors on this Netbook's motherboard is broken into pieces. As was obvious when I looked inside, it is actually on a side board that is connected to ...

Reinstalling right now using AHCI instead of IDE to see if that solves this problem.

I am starting to wonder if the problem is that I selected IDE in the BIOS instead of AHCI before the install.

Re: No sound Asus EeePC 1015PE Mint 11

I know now that it is an ALC269 so I added this at the end and then reboot, still nothing. gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and at the end I added; options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=basic I looked up the ALC269 and it said to use 'model=basic' At first I had tried 'model=asus' But neither...
