Re: File Not Found Need To Load Kernel First

Getting grub to offer LM13.

Well, it "offers" it, but when I select it I get that error.

File Not Found Need To Load Kernel First

Well, I installed LM13 on my external HDD (connected via usb). I did this by disconnecting my internal HDD, and then installing over the entire external HDD. (Was suggested in most guides) Problem: When I tried booting from the external HDD, all I got was a black screen with a blinking cursor. No gr...

3 monitors? I've never tried that one.

Have you tried just using "Display" settings in the xfce4-settings-manager?

That always works for me when connecting to my TV via HDMI.

Re: LMDE 201204 Xfce and "Aero Snap"

It is a new feature in Xfce 4.10: http://www.xfce.org/about/tour (look at the bottom) But... that hasn't reached the repos yet. Actually, it hasn't even fully reached the debian experimental repo. So, i will be some time until it trickles down to LMDE. Unless you want to try compiling it from source...

Re: restore terminal LMDE/XFCE

Yeah, I figured someone would have this problem.

UP4 does ask you if you want to allow it to overwrite the .bashrc files. You just have to make sure that you say "NO".

Such a pain... But, hopefully not too many people didn't see that in the update.

I think this might consistently be a problem with gdm3.

Re: Anyone here using Memory Techniques for better learning?

Yes, I've been digging into this study recently. When I took a Medical Terminology online, I memorized hundreds of terms over the course of 2 weeks through memorization techniques. I used this website: http://www.flashcardmachine.com/ ...along with a lot of memory palaces. I would work in 15 minute ...

Re: LMDE Service Pack 4 Wifi outage

Yeah, it's because of GTK3.

Oh, and I might note that now my wifi doesn't drop out while playing Urban Terror!

Must be a new driver or something. Whatever it is, woo hoo!

Re: LMDE Update 4 --> now boots to terminal

I had this problem...

Try:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install -f

startx
And if Xfce starts up, run Mint Update as you normally would.

Re: LMDE Service Pack 4 Wifi outage

Well, I hooked up my laptop to a wired connection, restarted in tty mode, and ran:

Code: Select all

dhclient eth1

sudo apt-get install -f
That installed a few packages... and bam! Wifi works, and no major theme issues! (just theme problems with some gnome apps, like gedit)

Re: LMDE Service Pack 4 Wifi outage

I'm having the same darn problem with my wifi after upgrading to UP4. (Running LMDE Xfce 64x) 1. System boots up into TTY mode, so i have to run "startx" to boot Xfce. 2. The network manager applet won't start, and I can't start it from the terminal, nor add it to the panel. 3. No freaking...

Re: Safe to add pure-Debian repos? squeeze? wheezy? sid?

You can do it, but you just have to be careful. I use sid to download a few packages every now and then, but I never upgrade with it. (That's a pretty good general rule if you just want to dip your toes in.)

Yeah, my version of VB doesn't have separate 32 and 64 bit options...

Oh, and I already have virtualization enabled from my bios.

Re: Virtualbox 64bit LM12 "Unable to boot"

I just tried using a pre-packaged 64 bit VM, but it crashes on boot. I suppose I'll have to just use the 32 bit version as a VM if I can't figure this out.
