Re: Installed memory 8gb usable only 5.8 gb
Are we sure that the display card angle isn't an XY Problem?
Perhaps the machine in question needs its BIOS updating to recognise all the memory, or there is some incompatibility with the particular memory module used.

Re: Package Manager Confusion
There are quite a few complex questions in there, but I'll give you my personal opinion. . Use the Software Manager and the Update Manager on the GUI side. I personally never use the Software Manager, always using the command line to install and remove software, but if you're new then the Software M...

Re: Software index is broken
Thanks. The opensuse line in /etc/apt/sources.list is malformed and also broken up into two lines. If you don't mind, please ignore asinoro's comment above for the moment until we get the repositories sorted. Run the following command: sudo xed /etc/apt/sources.list then replace the opensuse line an...

Re: Mint 20 and pgAdmin4
That should do the trick. You can run apt update , and if that doesn't throw any errors then you can get on with installing your software. Linux mostly works by storing software packages in remote "repositories". Long-term (LTS) distros such as Mint use separate repositories for each of it...

It is an interesting question, and one I asked myself very recently when I was looking at the processes on my system.

Have a look at the output of

Re: upgrade issue
While the upgrade will work, you have to remove all "foreign" repos and ppas. The upgrade has told you what to do: ERROR: The following 3rd party repositories were detected. Disable them and refresh your APT cache. You need to go into software sources and disable/remove the items identifi...

Re: Mint 20 and pgAdmin4
Thanks. There are two repositories that you need to change there it seems (I assume that one of then is for PostgreSQL and the other for pgAdmin 4 although I'm not familiar with the software). We'll edit them one at a time. First: sudo xed /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pgadmin4.list and then replace ulyan...
