Then right click on the panel, select "Add to Panel" scroll down to MintMenu and click "Add". In other versions there are other methods. ...and there lies the ru...

Gnome Games and Google Voice

After solving the problem with the wireless card, thanks oscar799, I've found 2 more problems, Gnome Games and Google Voice. The main problem with games is that it launches some of the games, but not all. As far as Google Voice, I'm prompted to download the plugin, which I do, install, did that, and...

Re: Mint Debian and BCM4312 Wireless...Help

Hopefully something like this will not be longer needed since Broadcom had opened the source of the drivers :) http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/09/broadcom-releasing-fully-open-source-driver-wifi-driver/ We'll see about the driver. BTW, I've just turned on a friend to Linux, that is LINUX MINT, with...

Thanks. I'll try this later tonight. BTW, I'm not the best at terminal, so please explain just what $(uname -r) means and how to type it in. Also, I'm confused with just what "Change ethx to the interface listed in iwconfig" means. Thanks again.

Broadcom 4312 and HP Netbook

I'm changing tack here because I have not been able to get my Broadcom 4312 wireless card to work with Debian Mint. So, is there anyone out there that has succeeded where I have failed?

Re: Mint Debian and BCM4312 Wireless...Help

http://wiki.debian.org/bcm43xx I can confirm that the instructions for Squeeze work with the 4312 that comes with some Dell hardware. Hopefully, yours is the same. It was going ok until I got to update-initramfs -u -k $(uname -r). I got the message that says update-initramfs is disabled since runni...

Re: Mint Debian and BCM4312 Wireless...Help

Ah, you are trying to install this from the Live DVD... Sorry. My success came from a physical installation. You do need to have your computer connected via Ethernet to obtain the necessary packages. The instructions should work fine using that method. Yes, things are a tad different when using Deb...

Re: Mint Debian and BCM4312 Wireless...Help

Thanks ikey for moving this to the correct location. One more thing I should mention is that I'm trying to do all this with the live DVD. I want to make sure it works because as soon as i know it does I'm getting rid of the Windows 7 starter I'm current dual booting with Mint and turning my Mini Del...

I've already tried these instructions, and it didn't work.

Mint Debian and BCM4312 Wireless...Help

I'm so excited about Debian Mint, but I can't get the wireless to work. I have and HP Mini 210-1091NR and the hardware info says: description: Network controller product: BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY vendor: Broadcom Corporation I've tried following the instruction given by Rifester under the subject "D...

Isadora Nautilus-gksu

I've loaded Isadora, but cannot launch Nautilus-gksu. The Package Manager says I have it, but when I right-click it isn't on the menu. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Bad news about user Husse

I too feel a profound loss, not only in the Linux community in general, or the Linux Mint world specifically, but all of humankind has been diminished by his loss. Husse was always there for me and stuck by his credo that there was not such thing as a dumb question...of which I contributed more than...

Re: Dual Boot and Palimpsest

If it labelled 'system' then I would probably leave it alone as it may well be some kind of recovery partition for Windows, try opening it in your file manager to see what files it has on it. I don't know for sure if this is the case (these are usually hidden partitions) but if it is so and you del...

Re: Dual Boot and Palimpsest

What do you have on your sda1 partition anyway? Did you install a bootloader to that partition? (either windows or linux). The easy way around this problem is to use partition labels and mount/boot using these instead. The MS Disc Manager says that partition is labeled System. I have not installed ...

Re: Dual Boot and Palimpsest

Do you have Windows installed twice? If as I suspect the answer is no, then it won't make any difference what you do to the boot flag or anything else. I don't have Windows installed twice. The sda1 partition is 209 megs and is using about 36 megs of it. The sda2 partition is 200 gigs. Both of thes...

Dual Boot and Palimpsest

I'm dual booting my HP Mini 210 with Win7. At start up my choices are the Mint standards plus Windows on sda1 (209 megs) and Windows on sda2 (215g). If I want to boot into the Windows environment I have to pick sda1. The Win7 disc manager tells me sda1 has a boot sector, but not sda2. My question: i...
