Re: LMDE 3 to reach EOL (End-Of-Life) on July 1st

LMDE 4 is indeed a semi-rolling release: you get new releases of Linux Mint developed software such as Cinnamon, Mint tools and X apps as regular updates through Update Manager and you get new releases of programs installed as Flatpaks automatically, but for packages installed from the Debian packa...

Kernel CONFIG_HZ misreporting

I have Linuxmint 19.3 installed running kernel 5.4.0-48-generic When I check the file /boot/config-5.4.0-48-generic CONFIG_HZ_250=y # CONFIG_HZ_300 is not set # CONFIG_HZ_1000 is not set CONFIG_HZ=250 clearly the kernel is configured with CONFIG_HZ set at 250 But when I check the output of this comm...

Re: CPUFREQ CPU Scheduler Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500 processor

Which desktop? In Xfce you can install xfce4-cpufreq-plugin in the panel for that also in Mate there's CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor or you can install specifics tools for that in repository as cpufrequtils (look at this by example) and out there. Try cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq...

Re: CPUFREQ CPU Scheduler Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500 processor

Installed Linux mint 19.3 but am unable to see which CPU scheduler it is using as the does not have cpufreq. sudo cat /sys/block/<DEVICE>/queue/scheduler Presumably <DEVICE> for you is sda . To change it, you need to set up some complex udev rules. I was looking for CPU Scheduler not the IO Schedul...

CPU Scheduler shedutil

I am running Linuxmint 19.3 with Kernel 5.3 and AMD A4-9125 processor. By chance I happened to come across schedutil cpu schedular and decided to use it. I must say I am pretty impressed by it. Re: Should LMDE version numbering follow Debian

I do know the reason for LMDE existence.

The suggestion was purely from a point that since its based on Debian, the number would clearly indicate the Debian version its based on at the outset.

Just purely for claritys sake.

Should LMDE version numbering follow Debian

Should LMDE version numbering follow Debian starting with LMDE 4? At least the Major number?
Suggest LMDE 4 should actually be LMDE 10.

Also sugggest LMDE 10 could be both Mate and Cinnamon.

True ... But 4.19 Kernel is the attraction along with updated softwares from Stable.

Want to be TRUE to LTS STABLE theory in practice.

You would have to install it yourself, and it would likely break your system. Perhaps the best alternative is to look at a distribution geared to old hardware, Antix or MX Linux, for example.
Well mxlinux has 4.19 and ditto antix ...

Older kernel install on Mint 19.1

Is it possible to install kernel 3.16 on the Mint 19.1

I have older hardware for which drivers orsource for drivers are available for 3.16 kernels or in gemeral < 4.0 kernels.
