Re: If 201109 is based on Wheezy...

Ah geeze guys, why wouldn't you make dmraid installed already on the live DVD? It's not like there was no room for it! Fstab won't update in a 'live' boot, how am I supposed to install to my Raid now?

Re: If 201109 is based on Wheezy...

Burned and booted 64-bit Gnome LMDE 201109, the kernel is 2.6.39-2-amd64 (x86_64) so that is a relief BUT, it 'sees' my Raid 0 but won't mount it, possibly because the Raid contains 2 volumes. It shows as 1.2GB file system in Nautilus (it's actually 1.2TB) but I get "Unable to mount location Interna...

SOLVED IT MYSELF! If 201109 is based on Wheezy...

What is the kernel that comes with the 64-bit Gnome version? Also, will it install to my 4 drive (Intel ICH10R) Raid 0 as easily as Ubuntu based 10 did? (11's installer was buggy with my Raid, had to make a second volume and install it there, putting in it 10's grub loader on the 1st volume) My main...

Re: The gap is closing between Mint and Ubuntu...

Sorry people, I guess I should have specified in my original post, the gap in the 'hits per day' counter, looks as if Ubuntu is losing users to Mint is all.

Re: The gap is closing between Mint and Ubuntu...

@Robin...you didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. When I spoke of people being sick of "you know who", I was referring to Windows. AGAIN, I tried Ubuntu several times, found it CLUNKY, very poor functionality and ugly as hell. The first distro I seriously ran as an OS was Mepis, debian bas...

Re: Mint is overrated

Whoa! First of all, every FREE Linux is FREE (use at your own RISK!), secondly, NOTHING is perfect in this world! Here is an idea, take a crack at Linux From Scratch, come back and let us know what a wonderful distro YOU wrote. FYI, I have a fairly modern high-end machine with a Brother printer, a w...

The gap is closing between Mint and Ubuntu...

on Distrowatch.com. Not surprised! Yeah, I know, Mint is Ubuntu based (the main edition, correct me if I'm wrong) but it's still BETTER! I like it so much, talking other people in to installing it! Lots of people out there fed up with you know who. :-/

Grub install BROKEN in 11 and my workaround, Intel Raid 0...

First I should say 10 installed like magic to my Intel Raid 0 (not using numbers in the volume name and NEVER use RESTART, always use shutdown in Mint and the power button to reboot, avoids the first drive of the Raid being knocked out, aka FAIL). Now, what happens in 11 is, I get to the end of the ...

Not sure if this belongs here...tried the Gnome 3...

Live trial from the Gnome website (built on top of SuSE 11.4, which of course didn't 'see' my Raid 0 like Mint does), ech, gross, it's trying to be like an app phone. It's clumsy, ugly and just plain annoying. I hope you good people avoid this version as long as you can. Just my $0.02. =/

and you should get some kind of award for it! FINALLY, after playing with different distributions since the middle 00's and going to Raid 0 about 4 1/2 years ago, I have a smooth, stable, pretty and FAST 64-bit system (without a lot of command line too!). Thank you to the developers and the posters ...

Re: tricky but sucessful install on ich10r Raid 0

UPDATE! CONFIRMED! I resized the volume to its full size (1.2TB) via the Intel BIOS utility and named it LM_TEN, re-installed and had absolutely no problems NOT USING RESTART EVER, even after the initial install phase, I chose keep testing, then did a complete shutdown before the very first boot in ...

Gigabyte EP45-UD3R/Core Quad Q9550...created a short stroked 105GB volume (of 1.2TB/4 320GB drives) with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager BIOS utility, ran the Linux Mint 10 64 bit Gnome DVD install.
