Re: Lutris support quietly dropped for Linux Mint (20)?
First of all, thank you for the answers, although they do not address the actual question. The ability to install Lutris, yes, it is installed on one of my Linux Mint machines as well, has very little to do with how much Lutris developers (will intend to) test the software on the LM distro. And if ...

Hogwash. I installed it on Mint Xfce 20 with no issues. I installed it on KDE Neon 20.04 which is as far from gnome as you can get.

Re: Ryzen 3500u Mint 20 Slow system boot
Other than removing VMware and mdadm there is nothing you can do.
An old style rotational drive, combined with a heavy distro that installs a lot of default services, and this is what you get.
Btw amd laptops don't set their drives to RAID mode by default. That's an Intel thing.

Re: 'Replace' installation option created a 2nd EFI partition
The solution is not to install using the automated options. Choose "something else" and select your partitions manually. Note that the bug even exists in Legacy/MBR installs too (yes EFI partitions in legacy). I detailed the bug a few weeks ago in Kubuntu, but Mint is the same: https://www...

Re: Cinnamon and Mate advantages over XFCE
XFCE developers admit that the current build is bloated. They go as far as saying KDE Plasma is actually lighter on resources due to the fact the KDE Project have more resources and developers working to optimise the code than XFCE Project..... Some may be surprised by this but it's true. I run bot...

inxi -Fxxxrz So we know the details and do not have to imagine. You might also display the SMART data for your disk to make sure it is not running into write errors. SSDs slow down at 70 degrees, a reason to look at SMART data and clean your fan. 3 GB is fine for Linux. My 4 GB ran everything excep...

Re: Opinion XFCE vs Cinnamon
They are both "traditional" desktops with a taskbar and menu. XFCE is more configurable, and has a lot more history/years behind it. XFCE is however a very slowly evolving desktop, while Cinnamon being Mint's baby receives more frequent upgrades. Personally I prefer XFCE after KDE, as my g...

These errors do not point to desktop environement issue, but rather some kind of corruption. XFCE is a fairly stable DE, and as stable as MATE or Cinnamon, or more stable in some case. You can verify by creating a new user in the sr manager and logging in. That should have a default config for the ...

Re: Why does the 'fstrim' only work on my W7 partition?
All trimmable partitions are being trimmed.
Your Linux partition has nothing to TrIM at this time.
Just copy a big file from elsewhere, delete it, and run the command again to see.

Re: American College is a Waste of Money
Here in the US, attending a graduate university or even a small community tech college is really turning into a waste of money. Unless you have scholarships or any aid, you'll owe more in debt than you'll ever make back. I'm very frustrated with our educational system right now. I'm an honors stude...
