Re: amsn or gaim? which is the most compatible to the mint?

You might try Emesene. I've found it better suited to MSN based IM than Pidgin or AMSN. If you wanna give it a try add it to your repositories, open a terminal: sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list Then add deb http://apt.emesene.org/ ./ deb-src http://apt.emesene.org/ ./ to your list at the end, save a...

Thinkpad T61p

Just ordered a new Thinkpad T61p from Lenovo Canada :D .
Anybody here running Mint on a Thinkpad or had any good experiences running Linux on it? I hear the graphics card (Quadro FX 570M) causes minor problems, but easily fixable.
Mmm now the waiting game.
Cheers.

Re: Mint Grub Boot Screen

It's there. I'm actually using that live backup cd cause I need change some partition sizes, but I don't see why it wouldn't be in my installed mint. I'll check after gparted finishes.

Re: Mint Grub Boot Screen

I tryed adding that line e.g. ## default num # Set the default entry to the entry number NUM. Numbering starts from 0, and # the entry number 0 is the default if the command is not used. # # You can specify 'saved' instead of a number. In this case, the default entry # is the entry saved with the co...

Re: this is driving me batty

First make sure you graphics card is enabled in the Restricted Drivers Manager. I had the same problem after freshly installed Nvidia drivers through envy. Then maybe go to Preferences -> Appeareances. From there go to the Visual Effects tab, trying switching back to "None" and then back t...

Re: How to disable sound on log-on/log-out?

Go to mint menu -> Preferences -> Sound. Once you've opened sound preferences navigate to the "Sounds" tab. Bottom two are the log in/out sounds.

Mint Grub Boot Screen

Hey all. I recently tried out Debian for a couple weeks. I made a backup of Mint 4.0 through remastersys before I installed Debian. Didn't notice too much difference between the two besides a more involved configuration which I figured mostly out, but I still had some printer/suspend-hibernate issue...

Re: mintMenu 3.1 released in Romeo

One problem I've been having with mintMenu 3.1 is launching Wine applications. Under the 'Wine" Category it will show the programs I have installed which in this case is Minitab 15. When I click on it nothing happens. When I run it through the regular gnome menu it boots up perfectly. Also in t...

Re: Install Mint on HD with XP Already?

I believe you can partition and resize your drive directly from the installer, just choose manual partition option. Additionally you can select "Partition Editor" in Administration in the Darnya menu before you install if you prefer to use it.

Re: Coloured prompt in terminal

Open terminal -> Edit -> Current Profile -> Colours. You can change the foreground and background colors from there.
Is that what you mean?

Re: Eliminate announcements when reading a post?

I think he meant the announcements (The Linux Mint Newsletter - Issue 31, Daryna KDE CE BETA 044 is out!, mintBackup 1.1 released in Romeo, etc) at the top of every thread. And I don't know.

Re: mp3 not working in daryna

I think I had the same problem with soundjuicer.
I think I installed gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse and liblame0 in addition to gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly. That made it work for me.
Cheers.

Hi all, I can not seem to access the Romeo updates via synaptic, i.e. mint menu 3.1, mint desktop 2.0. This is what my sources.list looks like: ## +++ Daryna (Linux Mint 4.0) +++ deb http://www.linuxmint.com/repository/ daryna main upstream import ## deb http://www.linuxmint.com/repository daryna co...

Emesene: File Menu

Started using emesene instead of Pigdin, great IM for msn btw, love it. I hid the file menus (file, edit, tools, etc) accidentally in emesene from in the preferences. Does anybody know how I can get this back since I can no longer access the menu through the main emesene window. Perhaps a configurat...
