It would be of help if you know exactly which realtek network card you have installed in that system.
It could be a bad card.
If it were me I'd try a usb external card see if that will work.

Re: Changing Grub Default Boot
Hi, What I suspect happened is that grub did not get installed properly in your cinnamon install and the grub you are using is the old LMDE grub and if that is the case you will have to make the changes in the lmde grub not the new cinnamon grub. I may be wrong but that's what it sounds like has hap...

Re: Slow/sluggish MATE
Sorry to hear that, I can't believe that windows 10 would run faster on that machine. It did not on my Ideapad. Linux ran circles around it. Maybe a lighter Desktop like XFCE would work better. I will say others have complianed about the 110 model not being particularly good for linux. But can't spe...

Re: No network controller?
try this download the driver from here you want r8168-dkms.
you'll have to download on another machine and put it on usb stick or disc. what ever your machine will accept. right click on the file and select open with gedbi. install the driver, reboot see if network is working.

Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 over Ubuntu 18.04
Hello RyanFJC and Welcome to the Linux Mint community. When you do the install and it asks you what to do on the partition page select something else. Then select the ubuntu partition to install to by selecting change and select format and / as the mount point. That's it. if you have a separate home...

Re: Mint's LiveCD Always Defaults to London's TimeZone after Boot
Hi spaceman5 and Welcome to Linux Mint Forums, Unless you've created a persistent usb stick what ever you change when you reboot will be lost. including the time. it will default back to the original. I've used multiboot usb to make a persistence file which has worked for me in the past. you can loo...

I would agree with Pierre. A clean fresh install is better most of the time.
Re: Wine OS
There is always virtual box also. you can install windows in that and run what you want. In some cases programs actually will run better in virtual machine than on windows itself. Wine is kinda hit and miss at times since I do not use any windows office software on linux, never needed to do not know...

Re: A Wine predicament
once you get the winehq version removed I would suggest you try playonlinux it is a nice front end for wine and makes installing new and old versions of wine very simple. It's in the repositories. you can add wine versions via the tool menu. Also if your using mint 19 there is a problem with the way...
