Re: COVID-19 infection: how did your sickness process go?

I've had it 2 years ago. It lasted more than 2 weeks and there's been a lingering side effect. Four of my relatives who first got it were not as fortunate, because they all died at the hospital. That prompted the rest of us who got infected later on to just rest at home. We have had terrible experie...

TimeShift -- It has saved me several times already. No need for me to look somewhere else.
A Big THANKS to the Linux Mint team for making it a default system recovery tool. :)

Re: How many distros do you have loaded?

Two, one per machine. I lost interest in distro hopping some time ago. They just aren't all that different. I haven't been distro hopping for a while...until I tried to run Mint 21. In my 6 years of using Linux Mint, this is the very first version that fails to run on my old desktop PC. Because of ...

My son's previous bike was a Trek. The brand seems to offer great value for the price you pay, compared to other popular brands.

It won't let me update to Mint 21!

The Mint 21 installer won't start on my 12-year-old desktop PC. This is the very first Linux Mint installer that fails to start on this machine. I will try again when Mint 21.1 comes out. Question: Just in case the machine turns out incapable of running the newer versions... Is it really a bad idea ...

Re: Where I can find Linux kernel developers to tell them my problem?

My quick solution to kernel related problems is to rollback to previous kernel version that I know didn't have the issues. Recently, I had to go 2 steps backward in kernel version on my 12-year-old laptop, because it started having issues keeping wifi and bluetooth connections. I find this approach ...

Re: Linux Mint OS vs Ubuntu OS

Er...where did the OP indicate that? English is not my native language, but to my understanding here: What do you think guys ? Also Google translate gives only a male expression for this word. Oh, I see. Where I live.... a "guy" always refer to a male. But when the plural word "guys&...

Re: Do you have a distro testing computer?

I used to test distros in VMs, but eventually switched to a dedicated machine setup with mutiple hardrive partitions to host multiple distros.

I learn more about how distros exactly behave using this new method compared to just VMs.

Re: Mint 21

In the future releases of Mint, I would like to have the file Size column in Nemo configurable to display in KB unit only. This would make it easier to spot an out-of-place file, a damaged file, or a potential problem file (while the file list is sorted by file type or file name). My brain reacts di...

Re: What's the difference between a DE and a window manager?

Here's my understanding of the difference between DE and WM (and please somebody correct me if this is wrong)...

* Cinnamon, MATE, Xfce are choices of DEs

* Choosing the "classic" appearance as opposed to modern default (in Cinnamon) is an example of switching to another WM

Make (or allow) the file size column in Nemo to uniformly show sizes in kB unit only (not a mix of GB, MB, kB, bytes).

Re: "Flatpak Is Not the Future"

Is Flatpak the devs' alternative to WINE...to create a binary that works everywhere? Is this the devs' new way of saying Linux will be the future of desktop computing, or is this an indication of throwing in the towel? Well, Wine doesn't create any binaries, it's just a hacky compatibility layer, a...
