Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

I haven't noticed this (mis-)behavior on my system, and I've even changed wifi connections (servers) in the middle of sessions without a problem. This is on my Lenovo T61 with Intel's PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (according to KInfocenter). $ sudo apt policy network-manage...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

I have 2 KDE-LMDE Issues. One I have an ATI Card In my laptop. The ATI Display Manager lets me set up a dual display fine but it doesn't keep the settings. While I am in the middle of using it , It randomly disables one of the displays , re enables one of the display, goes back to clone , seems to ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5 [UPDATE: 16/10/2012]

By the way if you ever want to just see what an apt-get command is going to do without it actually doing it put -s in the command like this: sudo apt-get remove -s pulseaudio* Try it in this case to remove pulseaudio and you might be surprised by how much is going to be removed! Killer tip! I'm goi...

Ah, that explains it!
If you feel like it, you can download and try the current version.
Thanks, will do.

Re: Device Driver Manager - Help needed

One thing I meant to mention earlier: When I first used DDM I didn't know that the PAE kernel should get installed then the video drivers so I did it simultaneously. Would it be possible to add a reminder of the proper order for people using DDM before getting enough coffee for their brain to stop r...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

Here's what I have right now. I haven't expanded the number of slides but I did add a little to them. Feel free to roll back any changes I made. Perfect! Just changed a minor typo and I'm testing it now...looks good. Could you please add another subject: compatibility with MS Office? I feel that is...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

Okay. I was looking at the Kubuntu install slide show and I got some ideas. What media player apps are installed by default? All I can remember is installing Amarok at some point across my install history. And would there be a problem if I mention that codecs are installed by default so they're usef...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

Quick question Schoelje: What's the order for the slides? It's been a while since I've seen an install slideshow and I don't recall what order they show up in.

I don't mind having both kernels in GRUB. That way if something goes wrong (like that ever happens 8)) I have a fallback.

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

It's still primarily an Ubuntu-based distro. LMDE is definitely not Ubuntu-based. If it were you could use PPA's and if you try to install anything on LMDE from a PPA you're looking to break your system. (There are a very few rare exceptions, but they do more to prove the rule than negate it.) Not ...

Re: The unofficial LMDE KDE UP5

Thanks, arjay. I finally got to take a quick look at what's there this morning and I added your suggestions to the safe browsing page. I'll try to give everything a better look in a bit and get something put together by the end of the day. @Schoelje: I can make the changes to the html pages themselv...

Re: Time settings out of sync

I've been glad to follow this thread since I'm noticing last modification dates in Dolphin don't match up with my current local time (US EDT). But before I apply this I'd like to make sure it's safe for a pure Debian-based distro like LMDE since it comes from Ubuntu, a distro that is known for doin...
