Mint KDE promo images

Today I was tweaking a userbar for my signature and decided it was high time I added ads for KDE and Mint KDE to my blog. I used an existing image form my KDE promo but I created a brand new Mint KDE promo image since I didn't see one I liked. While I only use one on my blog I created two images wit...

Re: New Userbars

I took Zwopper's blue userbar and tweaked it slightly to make it clear I'm a KDE user. I'm still not 100% sure on where the KDE logo is positioned.

I hope my mod is cool with you, Zwopper. I love your userbars.

Hidey-ho

Hidey-ho, BostonPeng the Penguin here. [/Kermit] I'm a former WinXP user although I've been running Ubuntu since 2007. I've helped out with the Mac4Lin dev team to get the docs for Mac4Lin 1.0 ready to release. Unfortunately a few months ago I decided I was getting tired of the decisions that The Sp...

Re: Changelog tab never shows any information

"Odd" is putting it mildly, russ, not to mention kindly. It essentially renders MintUpdate useless for 99% of the updates that come through for me. What would be the best place to file a bug against this to ask that it provide the missing info for apps coming from Ubuntu repos? I know getting info f...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

Ooh! You can do multiquoting here. I'll have to find out how. Me to I use the daily builds. Chromium is so much snappier than Firefox it felt kinda like when I went from IE to Firefox many moons ago (I'm almost ashamed to admit I used IE years ago.) And it does a flawless job at rendering pages...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

You don't have to backup the hidden folders you want to keep just leave them there, Mint(or Ubuntu for that matter) won't delete them, In fact when you open for example Firefox, all your bookmarks will be there like nothing ever happened. Firefox, yuck. I kicked the Fox to backup status some time b...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

If you go from Kubuntu to Mint KDE and don't reformat your / partition you will most likely have problems. What do you have in your / partition that would take so much time to recreate that it would require scheduling time to do an install? In general I can go from inserting the LiveCD/DVD to a sys...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

You don't have to delete the hidden folders for firefox evolution or pidgin if you don't want to but it can play hell going from (K)Ubuntu to Mint if you leave the desktop config files, things that control themes and such. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining it, Jason. I'll see what folders hav...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

You do realize that the / partition is where the OS resides right? How would you install a new OS in place of an old one without reformatting the / partition? I do realize that, Jason. I've done reinstalls over my old data without completely blowing away / in the past, although it's been a reinstal...

Re: Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install quest

How horrible an idea is it to simply install Mint over my current Ubuntu+KDE install? You cannot simply install over the top as you suggest as the installer insists on formatting certain partitions such as /. In your case you could simply leave the existing partitions in place but when the installe...

Moving from Ubuntu+KDE to Mint but have an install question

After using Ubuntu for a couple of years I decided to give KDE4 a try and really like it. A friend suggested I look at Mint and I'm liking what I see on the LiveDVD of Mint 9 KDE (although I wish there was a LiveCD iso I could have snagged). I want to install Mint but the way I have my system set up...
