Re: { 18.1 } speechless.... documentation...
nobody uses pdfs anymore -- nobody -- this is unbelievable Not sure where you get that idea from, what I do find unbelievable is how much moaning you're doing about the format of the documentation, how exactly do you want it? A good few years back when I first installed I also found it useful, I ap...

Re: I Think I Accidentally Upgraded from Mint 18.1 to Ubuntu 18.1?
Interesting . . . . . . I can't say that I can give you a definitive answer on where exactly you've 'gone wrong' but may be be in the course of installing/uninstalling and how you went about that - if in the course of that, and maybe running terminal commands? / as KDB suggested maybe you pulled in ...

Re: Your Opinion on 17.3
I'm running 17.3 on the desktop and don't intend to change, LM18 on one laptop running just fine, but on another I had wifi dropping out all the time so just went back to 17.3 as it was quicker and easier than trying to troubleshoot it

Re: Bleachbit
OP, please be prepared for a finger wagging barrage of ' I told you so ' posts as is common now when anyone mentions bleachbit. You should have took the time to learn how to use it first, it does come with instructions and hindsight is a great thing, but if you'd have asked about cleaning you'd have...

Re: Which one?
A brief summary having used all three DE's - XFCE I used to love, light and fast and easy to get used to coming from a winXP background, then mate and cinnamon came out, cinnamon blew me away, mate a great light alternative. Between those two, there are just things about cinnamons layout/right click...

Re: Just not getting it...
Glad I dropped in on this thread for a look, I would not have known you could even do that swap on a wifi card, goes to show you learn something new every day . . . . . . .OP, always ask here if you get stuck for more than a few hours, the wealth of knowledge here is hard to match, well here and the...

Re: I'm about to ditch Mint!
@bobfunduro Great to hear you're up and running and sticking with it, Linux is different to windows in layout, design and use in some ways, similar in others, but either way there is a learning curve as there was/is with windows. It seems you've coped pretty well so far, expect to make mistakes and ...

Re: Mint 18 Firefox Search Engine GOOGLE missing
I don't think you're reading properly . . . . . . . I said click on change search settings and it'll open a tab to choose google from on that page. When you click on the magnifying glass, it isn't that that allows you to change search engines, it's the writing beneath as per my screen shot that says...

Re: Mint not installable on some computers?
Have you tried various boot options, turn UEFI / secure boot / on/ off / boot in legacy mode all a or any of that ? You haven't stated your machines specs so the best anyone can do is guess, no obvious reason why it shouldn't install though ................

Re: Still : NO Anti-Virus program needed ? (Solved)
I used to love viruses and malware on windows, many a night I'd be roped in by a friend to help a fair maiden with a problematic PC or laptop, where by the wizardry of malwarebytes and avira I'd positively look like a computer god  and save said damsel in distress from a fate worse than, well, ...

Re: Why should I switch to Linux?
One more good point with a linux install is the speed at which you can re-install the OS quickly if you did screw up whilst learning. If you partition with a /root partition and a /home partition (besides other partitions) and make a pigs ear of something you can quickly re-install by just pointing ...

Re: Cannot install LM18 for dual booting
It sounds as though you're not even seeing the grub menu at boot is that correct ?
grub needs to be installed on the first drive I think, it should overwrite windows MBR and give you GRUB instead, but you've got two OS's on two separate HDD's is that correct as well?

Re: wireless not enable
I was also going to suggest a hardware button check or Fn wireless key/ toggle for on and off might be the problem looking at the terminal output there is one hard(ware) block maybe someone else can confirm if my suspicion is right.
