Sorry to disagree, but I used to run that tool absolute flawlessly on several versions of Mint, as long as they were based on Ubuntu 16.04.
It just refused to get installed for distros based on Ubuntu 18.04 because of the abandoned gksu.

Did you just double-click that AppImage file (this is how you start this kind of file, usually)?

Did you make it executable? If it doesn't help:
