QNAS [SOLVED]
As a writer, I have been using a NAS to save all my work. However, the NAS is now several years old, a bit slow and running out of room. I was wondering if any of you guys use a NAS and would recommend a reasonably priced and reliable NAS that I could look up, on the WWW. Any ideas will be most welc...

Re: Grammarly in Linux
I have tried it many times, in different OS's and it has never performed properly. I have uninstalled every version of it I have tried, it is more of a nuisance than a help. Thanks for your reply. I searched high and low to find a solution and sadly couldn't find one. I did get told however that Gr...

[SOLVED] Grammarly in Linux
Has anyone got Grammarly to work in LibreOffice in Linux? I've checked out LT and it is woefully lacking. I know there is an 'extension' for Microsoft Office but I don't believe there is one for LibreOffice in Linux. If there is a way to get Grammarly to work with LibreOffice in Linux could you tell...

Re: Transfer infomation from 250GB ssd to new 1TB ssd?
Thank you, guys, for all the information, I think I have enough now to do the transfer. I must admit Sanmig's post confused me a little as I have no idea what a USB 3.0 Rotating Drive is??? A USB External Drive perhaps! As to the specs, I will only buy a bigger drive that has 'exactly' the same spec...

Re: Transfer infomation from 250GB ssd to new 1TB ssd?
I appreciate your suggestions and will keep them in mind when I buy the new SSD.
I have another question however if I clone the 250GB SSD to an External HDD, will I be able to clone the contents flawlessly to the 1TB SSD or must I prepare in some way the new SSD?

Re: Possible Missing Firmware?
What you could do to surpress these messages is blacklist those particular modules is below but take a Timeshift snapshot first in case you want to easily reverse this at some point. Create a file as follows in a Terminal window: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/surpress-warnings.conf the file should cont...

Re: Possible Missing Firmware?
r8169 are PCI-E Realtek Gigabit Ethernet modules, i915 are Intel GPU modules. If you have neither component present or just don't use them anyway, ignore the warnings. I get them about AMD NAVI when initramfs is being updated but don't own a NAVI. Everything is working, so I guess I can ignore. Tha...

[SOLVED] Possible Missing Firmware?
Each time I boot my computer I get these missing firmware warnings. (r8169 & i915).
I had them with previous Linux Mint versions and they are still there with my present version Linux Mint Cinnamon 20.
What are these warnings and should I be concerned?
Thanks, Gael.

Cable for data tranfer between Google pixel and Computer?
I have a Google Pixel first edition mobile phone, and I am trying to obtain a cable that will allow me to transfer data from my LM20 computer, too and from, my mobile phone. I have a couple of USB cables with C connection, and they will charge the phone but won't read the phones content. One cable c...

Re: Lost System Tray
Which desktop? Which version of Mint? The answer came from user 'All41' restoring from the CLI with 'cinnamon-settings panel'. From there it was easy by just following the on-screen instructions. For the record, I am using LM20 Cinnamon. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you guys for respo...

Casting video from Waterfox / Firefox?
Question; Is there a way to "Cast" video from the Waterfox browser? I used to Cast from Chromium, but that is no longer an option. I try hard to avoid Google Chrome where it is possible because I don't trust Google with my information and history. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing anything...

Re: Create a launcher from a Wine .exe file?
You can create a launcher on the desktop and make that the command line. Also, be aware you can open a launcher with a text processor and edit it. Okay, I created a working launcher. I typed in the address in the new launcher that worked from the CLI without the "s, and it workes perfectly. Th...

Re: Create a launcher from a Wine .exe file?
Hi gael33, Try creating a link rather than a launcher: navigate to the exe file in.wine, right click it and then click on 'create link'. The link will be created in the same location so drag it to your desktop. I've tested this on my LM20 XFCE system using the Nautilus file manager and it worked wi...
