Re: Daemon tools Like Program

You can Google search for iso mounters in Linux, with a quick search I found a utility called "Furius ISO Mount", it is available in the package manger.

Re: Unable to install default elementary OS applications

Hi,

Looking at the PPA sites for elementary Daily (https://launchpad.net/~elementary-os/+archive/daily) and elementary Stable (https://launchpad.net/~elementary-os/+archive/stable); neither shows support for Ubuntu 12.10 Precise, which Linux Mint 14 is based from.

Re: Will swap partition of Mint 14 be recognized by Mint 15?

Now, I want and need to install Mint 15. So, I got it on a live USB and booted in from the live USB. While installing, when manually selecting the Mint 14 partition, I became confused as the swap partition was listed separately. Basically, I am worried that Mint 14 partition is 7.5 GB, what if Mint...

Re: Volume up to 150% in Prefs, but 100% in applet

I can raise my volume to 150%. Which is really 100%, of course, or 11 on a really good guitar amp. But I'm serious, it goes past 100% up to 150%, where I get max volume. I believe that is incorrect. When sound is at 100% on the panel applet and only ~2/3 in sound preferences - then it is at 100%. W...

Re: video play back

I don't like this output from inxi -Gx, "FAILED: nvidia".
Can you try opening up NVIDIA settings manager to verify the nvidia driver is in fact loaded.

Re: Environment PATH

It's set up automatically on by Virtualbox installation of Linux Mint 14. If one opens nemo as root and tries to open a .jar file, it defaults with archive manager, but you can select to use OpenJDK as well. If you right-click the .jar file and go to the Open With tab, you can change the default. If...

Re: video play back

You'll need to provide more information, such as: video card, what driver's are in use, what program you are using to play videos, and what format of video.
You can use the command 'inxi -Gx' in a terminal to provide most of the technical information.

Re: LibreOffice Updates

Typically, updates for major software versions are not supported until the next cycle.
If you do not want to update manually, there is a libreoffice PPA you can use to update via Package manager.

Re: Change user name

In regards to "usermod: invalid option -- 'i'". I made a typo on that forum post and should have been an "l" not an "i".

Try

Code: Select all

usermod -l <NewUsername> -d /home/<NewUsername> -m <OldUsername>

How did you disable it in 'normal firefox'? You can exit full screen with F11 and then use Ctrl+V to bring up the firefox menu in netflix.

Re: Lock screen

Actually that might not do the trick in Cinnamon.

Go to Login Window under Administration in the menu. Go to the security tab and uncheck automatic login.
