Re: How to repair Shockwave Flash capability in Firefox

So it appears that new versions of Flash don't support my CPU anymore. Could it be true that support was dropped from Adobe's distro, mint-flashplugin, and pepperflash at the same time? I think I can explain why my PC had flash working on day 1 of installing LDME, but not after updates. I need to c...

Brahim> Been meaning to say too that you do put up some nice shots. I especially like the blue one above - that adni18 site has some very nice wallpapers.

Re: You Tube and Chromium

I tried ro run in in terminal. I could type the command in, but when it asked for my password, I couldn't type anything in. I am fairly new to Linux so I figured terminal is where it should be ran, is that correct? That is correct. When you are typing your password for sudo nothing will show. This ...

Re: Updated linux now i cannot play videos/movies

No experience with SiS graphics myself but rather than trying to invent the wheel can you give an answer to: What method did you use to update? Sounds like you may have brought in a new kernel that your video driver isn't configured for. The help may lay in a clear answer to what was updated or how:...

Re: Firefox integration of topbar

I just looked at my Windows install - what I find amusing is that when FF is maximized, the top bar disappears and the tabs and window buttons blend into one space... that is with menu bar disabled. So I don't even see why this "Hide Caption Titlebar Plus" plugin is needed for Windows (7).

Re: Firefox integration of topbar

So the "Hide Caption Titlebar Plus" plugin, suggested in the linked thread, might be the answer, if only the Mozilla webpage did not state it were not available for our platform, i.e. unavailable for Linux . Hm. I think it is the developer that chooses that and I want to guess that it is a CYA thin...

Have to say there was no hierarchy percieved/implied on my part.
It was just laziness if the truth be told.

Re: Firefox integration of topbar

Hi kenjiiii I am not sure if in your question you are asking about removing the titlebar in addition to the suggestions made by Karl. If that is what you want to do maybe this will help: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=789515#p789515 The "browser.tabs.drawninTitlebar" change doesn't do a...

Can you trust your Chrome extensions?

If this trend grows popular it may end up in the bowels of Firefox too - it is troubling. Adware vendors buy Chrome Extensions to send ad- and malware-filled updates ...ownership of a Chrome extension can be transferred to another party, and users are never informed when an ownership change happens....

Re: Chromium pdfs download, not viewable online

When I click on a PDF online with Chromium, it is downloaded. However on other operating systems, Chrome lets me simply view the pdf inside the browser without downloading it. If you want the behavior of Chrome you should install Chrome because in this operating system it will let you view a PDF in...

Animated gifs make me nuts too. I try to avoid add-ons if the same thing can be done without them. I have been running with them turned off in the about:config described here and enjoying the peace and quiet.

It is the default theme that comes with the E17 window manager called Dark. I don't know of an equivalent but doing a search came up with this but I can't say how well it works.

Re: [SOLVED] Strange flash video LM15

Hi kkoz83 > Confirmed that you do not already have the file and the kernel/card combination is a candidate for this change. On a side note you may want to update inxi as newer versions give better information such as your Desktop (instead of N/A). This update is not done through Synaptic but rather ...

Are you sure you have to create it - maybe it already exists. Can you post the output from these commands in a terminal (use copy/paste):

Code: Select all

cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Code: Select all

inxi -F

Re: NVIDIA Driver - Question

Yesterday I had an update for jockey through Mintupdate. Additional Drivers now show driver 331 as recommended and it was 304 previously. I enabled, rebooted and found no resolution problems (thank you Mint-'buntu). I did find that playing HD youtube content in either FF or Chrome used about 50% les...

I have the same exact problem as Steve and have never found a solution on a new Mint 16 Mate install. All flash videos are, as Steve posted, "green purple and distorted." I deactivated acceleration in flash but it did not work. It is frustrating. It looks like I have a similar setup on an old Dell....

Re: NVIDIA Driver - Question

Using Synaptic I finally installed nvidia driver 331.20. Though I had to edit the x configuration file to make my desired resolution 'stick'. All seems to be okay now (thus far anyway). Cheers. Ah you did it. Now I am a bit timid about this upgrade as I have seen many threads about problems with th...

There are so many different ways to download/install the driver. The method in this link seems okay: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/201 ... inux-mint/ Any comments? That link describes installing the driver 331.20 but the same driver can be found in Synaptic. What would be wrong installing thr...
