Re: MakuluLinux E17 release

Hi Pat, i got this with some googling.. start>settings>setting panels>scroll to Files> File Manager> Display> uncheck "Icons On Desktop> Apply. Oops. That is what I said first but just showed the picture of it without writing the steps. Sorry I was hurried. Glad you got mounting solved. Just came a...

Re: MakuluLinux E17 release

At least this distros make me want to test and spend some hours.. for learning. Glad to hear it - given enough time you may come to like it. Then the developers will finish with the "Gnom3-ification" (ie. removing things to make developing easier) and by E20 we will mourn the loss of E17. 2. theme ...

Re: MakuluLinux E17 release

wayne128 Hi the frustration is understandable. I just wanted to respond to your comments as some have solutions and some point to weaknesses in E17. 1. Installer, took me a while to orientate. but it is OK eventually. Same with me. Never seen the refracta installer before and had to go through seve...

Re: XFCE and LXDE only LTS

I'll sign any petition that supports this. In fact I don't know why Mint would not go to a LTS only cycle for all releases. Give the developers room to breathe and users have ways to install the latest apps without waiting for a new OS version release. Though I can see why it would be advantageous t...

MakuluLinux E17 release

Jacque Raymer, creator of MakuluLinux has released(unleashed) a well worked version of E17 on Debian. There are so few OTB releases of Enlightenment and the first Debian I have seen. A lot of hard work has gone into this and it is very impressive. Explorers should give it a try. http://www.makululin...

Re: Getting Enlightenment

Installed Enlightenment E18 from source to satisfy a curiosity (using Mint15Xfce). Overall it was disappointing as it does not give the impression of polished and fully functional release. In a brief test I was unable to get Systray to function properly (showed multiple stacked icons). The shelf(pan...

Re: ./configure complains of freetype2 >=9.3.0

I think it's better to ask the authors of that software, or try to find some info on their websites/forums/mailing lists. Yes the website does have a long list of required packages. For example, it lists freetype2 but doesn't say expect to find it in a package called libfreetype6-dev . I guess doin...

Re: ./configure complains of freetype2 >=9.3.0

Monsta > Thanks so much for the help - you were right on: installing libfreetype6-dev satisfied the dependency for freetype2. After that I was able to figure out some other needed dependencies. It just seems that the whole process is a kind of guessing game and not straight forward - looking throug...

./configure complains of freetype2 >=9.3.0

A simple noob at this but I have been trying to configure a package for install. Several errors I eliminated but hit a brick wall with this one... checking whether imported symbols can be declared weak... yes checking pthread.h usability... yes checking pthread.h presence... yes checking for pthread...

Sweet. Can you please give a link for the wall. Getting inspired to try Manjaro again... maybe as a gateway to Arch without the Arrg. Thanks in advance.

Re: How to hide Firefox titlebar?

Hiding menu bar is cool, hiding titlebar is better! Dat's what i'm looking fer. :) I read somewhere to install Stylish. I did. Now, where to find a script to go with it? Have found none so far. You may want to try the add-on that will hide the titlebar. Tested on Xfce and works okay there. http://f...

Re: Why does this happen to Firefox?

Palo, you solved it. Thanks. It was driving me nuts. How do I get rid of that title bar at the top? It takes up unnecessary space and I can't find an option in the FF preferences. I already did it in Chromium. Hi Rustycat > Glad that it is cleared up. As for your second question about removing the ...

Re: mint logo concept

Way back in 2010 there was a competitiion for a new logo. At that time I opted for the avatar of a member - troken - viewtopic.php?f=175&t=54412&p=333966. I haven't changed my mind since then. It depicts the elegance of Mint admirably. I still have it shown on my Desktop,. That is very unique. I pu...

Hi mohammad-sn > another very nice logo. As you make them could you please put up links to PNG as well? The font I used is called Formintelegance - it is rather skinny but I fattened it up with GIMP. I don't remember the source I used but a little Google-Fu brought me to this download link . Pat

Re: Why does this happen to Firefox?

I'm using Mint 15 Xfce on my old Dell laptop. At least once every browing session the main window will disappear, leaving just the top and bottom of the browser: http://i.imgur.com/d3Bo5IX.jpg The only way I can 'fix' it is to quit the browser and restart it. It seems to happen when I touch the tou...

Re: mint logo concept

Hi mohammad-sn I think the logo improvement is lovely. I am no artist but you may consider using the Mint font if you want. I do not work with vectors but I did a quick play with your first image like so:

Re: Firefox - Tabs on Title Bar

You can remove the title bar in Enlightenment too but I prefer to have it and if other WMs offer it as as option it is not likely to be very popular. The extra real estate is easily had by pressing F11 to go full screen and then mouse up to the top to get the tb buttons to show, so that sounds close...
