Re: Where is the real kernel?

I'm not familiar with mintupdate so I assumed level 4 and 5 updates would only be visible if they were enabled.

Are you saying that level 4 and 5 updates are not enabled, and you get the message to upgrade the kernel image?

Re: Where is the real kernel?

You said you had all level's enabled (1-5), so that would be normal behaviour shown in the screenshots.

Re: Where is the real kernel?

If I read your reply properly, a level 3 update package (linux) triggers a level 5 update package (linux-image-generic). This seems at least illogical, if not an actual bug. You said you have levels 4 and 5 active, so it would make sense that level 5 packages will be updated. If it was the case tha...

Re: Sound goes over 100% - why?

The video player VLC also has it's own amplification settings for volume, up to 200% I believe, so that might be a good option for adjusting the volume on the fly within the player.

Re: Sound goes over 100% - why?

Is there a way to make the regular controls map 0-100% correctly? They are controlling 0-100% of your speaker capacity, I do not know a way to allow the keyboard method to increase volume by digitally amplifying sound to 100%-150%, only accessible by direct manual intervention. The digital amplific...

Re: Sound goes over 100% - why?

In sound preferences you are given the opportunity to amplify the sound past 100%. This can cause bad sound quality with some speakers so it is not available via regular methods of adjusting sound.

Re: HOWTO: Improve Font Rendering in LMDE

I must be missing something obvious but I cannot find the actual HOWTO this thread seems to be in answer to. Where is the wonderful script you are all referring to? The first page of this thread, for me, is: uhm I'm not sure if and how that can be related but since I ran this script I cannot open t...

Re: Certain packages not found?

You're going to need to edit "/etc/apt/sources.list", so with a terminal, gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list The problem with your "repo mate desktop" is that it's using "oneric" and it should be spelled "oneiric". But if you're using Linux Mint 13, you should...
