Re: Nvidia v331.113: Freezes When Switched To Performance Mo

I'm sorry I don't get it. I'm using nvidia-331 (selected from Driver Manager ) and have GK208M [GeForce GT 740M]. It's just that upon switching from Intel to Nvidia -- as I've mentioned originally -- it won't do so. I mean to say that I have nvidia driver installed. THANKS!!!! THIS SOLVES A LOT!!! ...

Paul,

You have +/- 322 GiB free space. and yes, there you should install Mint onto!
All other partitions are already occupied and formatted as a Windows NTFS drive.

won't trust that application since it is very outdated! Better to create a RAMDisk in your main system memory which is created/loaded during boot by putting it into fstab: http://www.observium.org/wiki/Persistent_RAM_disk_RRD_storage You are jumping into conclusions! i am jumping into 1 conclusion!...

Re: SSD with Linux mint 17.1 MATE. Do i need to do anything?

All I do for the SSD drive (and I do this with any regular HDD too) is reduce the swappiness. the main worry is that an ssd doesn't like a high r/w use-age. - with regular / normal use-age an ssd should not wear out prematurely. :o if you have a lower amount of ram & are worried about failure, ...

Re: SSD with Linux mint 17.1 MATE. Do i need to do anything?

I installed ramlog and profile-sync-daemon :D . Installing them wont hurt (but you can say goodbye to log files in case of ramlog and changes to your browser profiles in case of profile-sync-daemon, in case the system crashes and cannot be shut down cleanly). It seems thatRAMLog is a 4-year old app...

Do you need Bluetooth? It is known that Wifi and Bluetooth "don't like eachother". In other words, if you don't need bluetooth, deinstall it.

Can you tell us more about your system as requested/required by forum rule #5.
We don't have magical crystal balls in which we can see your system/hardware spec's ;)

Here's how:
- open a terminal
- type the following command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

- copy/paste the output here

Ok first things first, you're sure that you enabled your soundcard? And also turned on the volume? It seems to be a rather old sound device. Try this: ⋅ Open a terminal ⋅ Type the following command: sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf ⋅ At the bottom of the file...
