Re: unable to access or boot new ssd after cloning using clonezilla
is this something we can fix so i can boot the laptop with new SSD? This is going to require a lot of command-line-fu to fix. You have two choices. The easiest will be to clean install to the SSD then copy over your home directory contents from the HDD, making sure to include hidden files, followed...

Re: Add Safely Remove Xfce 19.3
Is there a way to add "safely remove" to the right click options for drive removal? Eject and safely remove are different words for the same thing. I find that questionable. The exact behaviour depends on the device type. Safely remove will unmount and power off a USB device, as will ejec...

You could have said so. At the top of this page is a link titled how to get help. You can't miss it. It's in red. Please read it.

Re: Command won't work from crontab, but works fine in terminal (Rhythmbox)
There's no need for bold text.
Change this:
59 0 * * * rhythmbox-client
to this 59 0 * * * /full/path.to/rhythmbox-client
.Where
/full/path.to/
is the full path to the file rhythmbox-client

Re: old computer new vid card
you do say that but it worked just fine w/ integrated graphics. In my research i found that mint was supposed to be good on older machines too. Making a win7 usb atm so if that doesnt work either then im off to mx then puppy Well, that leaves the video card as the problem. It likely doesn't properl...

Re: old computer new vid card
As I said, you should install a distribution geared to old equipment. MX Linux, emmabuntu, puppy linux and so on. It's absolutely pointless trying to get a leading edge distribution like Mint running on 14-15yr old equipment.

Re: Backintime ran out of disk space???
Bought the drive Oct 18 so it has taken over a year to 'fill up'. The drive will be dead by Oct 20 from over use. You only need one or two Timeshift sets, taken before any major update. Daily backups of your treasured stuff is fine, but keeping 4 weekly and 12 monthly backups is over done. I don't ...

Re: Show Desktop
Cinnamon 19.3. I removed the Show Desktop icon from the panel intentionally because I so rarely use it, now I want it back. I can add the applet, but it's on the right side, not the left side default position. Is there a way to put it back like default? Drag it in panel edit mode, for goodness sakes.

How? Ok, we can try blacklisting i915. https://linuxmint.com/rel_tina_cinnamon.php Go there and scroll down to 'Solving freezes during the boot sequence'. The first two videos will show you how to add the nomodeset option, but you don't want to add nomodeset , you want to add module_blacklis...
