I have got this set up on my machine but decided not to use the fan control as I had just bought a new card and didn't want to break anything on it.

No sorry, I don't know how to do this in Cinnamon. Maybe there's an equivalent to the TraditionalOK theme in the Cinnamon-themes ?

I still can't find any way to change the icons on the right of the panel either. The only thing I can do to make them more visible is to get ride of the transparency, which I don't want to do. For me these new icons have made the customisation of the panel obsolete, which is a shame.

I recently did an upgrade from a GTX970 to a RTX2060, quite a leap in itself. I was already running the latest Nvidia driver available in driver manager and after installing the new card and firing up my Mint 19.3 the new card worked fine.
