Re: Linksys WUSB600N problem

I'm not much the wiser now I think it's clear that it is a driver and/or kernel problem, not really an Ubuntu problem I don't recall if I asked you this before (does not seem so) but please run lsusb -v and post the section for the WUSB600N Also run lsmod to see what is loaded (and tell us) We can't...

Re: DVD drive not showing when certain DVD's are inserted

Ah - something I suspected It's been treated wrongly by k3b, but normally this happens with win software which uses a format that is not compatible with other programs I had a similar problem with some DVDs that had to be closed by the DVD recorder to be detected by my computer An open DVD should be...

Re: No brightness adjustment, and other minor power issues

beefstu - that had fallen out of my mind completely :( Just a comment - this is for Mint 8 earlier versions make the adjustment in menu.lst simply by adding that on the kernel line - example line here kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-7-generic root=/dev/sda11 ro quiet splash change to kernel /boot/vmlinu...

Re: No wireless connection on linux mint 7 kde

For people in the EU this may help gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf The file does not exist so it opens blank As far as I understand all *.conf files in modprobe.d are parsed at boot Add options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=”EU” You get more channels but it might also help in other ways on the...

Re: Support for TV tuner card on Linux mint

This is much harder to figure out than I thought but in spite of that the hits I get are pretty old, from around 2005 which means that it's been working since then I have only one thing left and that's for you to run dmesg and look up the section for the card I would be about 30 lines the first one ...

We have a problem with mint4win as the maintainer of this app has had severe problems in his family and has been unable to participate much in the work - we are a small team....
As soon as Helena XFCE is released (should not be too long into the future) I hope merlwiz79 can start working on mint4win

Re: Automount at boot a NTFS Bios raid drive

Raid is really badly developed on the Ubuntu side and I think I've tried to convince "you know who" to include some GUI tool (because they exist) but without success

Re: Brother MFC-465N Install on Mint 8

Sorry for the late answer, but my duties "outside Mint" have taken some time lately
I can not print from Opera or Openoffice
Can you print from anything?
If you can print from something else - like gedit or Firefox
If you can it's some configuration problem in those programs

Re: Benq 4300u Scanner ... (Revived!)

I have a Brother all in one, not a Benq so I can't follow a description for Benq I can get it working if I run Xsane as root - one should not do that, but it helps in diganosing Have to go back to my notes to see what's next I hope the other scanner does it for you because I don't think I'll come an...

Look here
It's in the first answer
What seems strange is that once you have pressed the compose key it seems to stay on "for ever" (not checked a reboot but that should "kill" it)
Answer number 8 goes a bit more into detail

Re: No wireless connection on linux mint 7 kde

I'll look into it WEP works, but WPA works much better
And to tell you the truth - anyone with a little bit of computer knowledge can connect to WEP without knowing the password
It only takes marginally longer - I know you did not want that answer but as I said I'll try to fix the WEP problem

Sorry to unclear to spend time searching for a solution here
For that I would need to know hardware, if the ethernet works, and if the modem works not just that you don't get a connection
