I can't speak for the newer thinkpads but my older ones keep going. I've also had pretty good success with Dell's over the years. Never really had any hp laptops But know lots of people that do. Cheers!

I would second AndyMH's comment Lenovo Thinkpads are linux friendly and quite repairable. Though I've never had to repair any of mine. they just seem to keep going.

There is a problem with some 6.x kernels and Nivida drivers. So best to stick with older 5.x kernel for now
C'è un problema con alcuni kernel 6.x e con i driver Nivida. Quindi è meglio rimanere con i vecchi kernel 5.x per ora. (DeepL)

Systemd works fine is easier to use and modify than SystemV But the great thing about Linux is that you have choices and if you feel uncomfortable with Systemd you can change to the one your comforta...

I have it installed through an app I use Which install third part programs and scheduling works fine on my install.
I used deb-get to install it.
