Andy,
It arrived today, but I can't immediately see where to plug it in. Is it a screwdriver and main board job? Groan, if so.
I see there are Bluetooth USB adaptors, but they are a bit more expensive, so I'd like to get this one working if poss.

Re: Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
It says Type 2537 (plus some other ID stuff) on the back.

Bluetooth Lenovo Thinkpad T410
Does it have one? Certainly my Mint doesn't see it. Before I go out and buy an adaptor (if poss) I want to know if it has one built in. Replies on Google seem a bit uncertain as to whether or not this model has bluetooth onboard, and since I haven't got Windows installed I can't follow the suggestio...

Am I being unduly cautious?
I recently did my third Mint update, and each time I've done a clean install, which is time-consuming but I had read in the past several posts which indicated to me that simply upgrading from one release to another could be 'problematic'. I have just updated from Sarah to Tricia, doing a clean insta...

Mounting External USB DVD Drive
My new external CD/DVD Writer will mount and play CD/DVDs fine, but I can't get Brasero or Xfburn to write to blank discs. If I put a commercial CD or DVD in it mounts and plays fine, but as soon as I eject the disk it unmounts, and putting a blank disc in just doesn't mount. File System sees it oka...

Re: Broad question: Any tips on good laptop which will allow changing the boot sequence with minimum fuss?
That was a really helpful reply. Thank you. Just out of interest, I've just installed the 32 bit version of 19.3 on an old Dell Inspiron which has been gathering dust. Booted from a USB stick and went without a hitch. Of course it was easy to get the boot order changed on an old machine. On the wide...

Re: Broad question: Any tips on good laptop which will allow changing the boot sequence with minimum fuss?
Generally, I look for a laptop that has two drive bays. Bay 1 gets the Linux drive, Bay 2 gets the Winderz drive. On boot up, I'm presented a choice as to which drive I wish to boot to. Sounds like a thinkpad (or at least the earlier models), internal sata, internal msata or M.2 and then put a driv...

Re: Broad question: Any tips on good laptop which will allow changing the boot sequence with minimum fuss?
Well I have just bought a Lenovo V15 laptop. Now I didn't want Windows at all but it was set up to stop you from accessing the Bios directly. I went through a lot before I got it sorted because I was forced to set up Win10 before I could get to Bios. Once it is running then you go through a simple ...

Oops, I've just been reading my post on the same subject 5 years ago. It seems that my DvD will write CDs but not DvDs

Broad question: Any tips on good laptop which will allow changing the boot sequence with minimum fuss?
I am thinking of buying a new (or rather newer) laptop than my current ThinkPad T410, which has been a very reliable workhorse but is beginning to show its age. I remember the last new laptop I bought with Windows pre-installed was a bugger to change the boot-sequence, because it used a different BI...

DvD will read commercial DvDs, but won't burn
This is frustrating the hell out of me! I want to upgrade to 19.3 and have downloaded the ISO, but I can't burn it to a DvD because (and I've tried several blank disks, both DvD-R and DvD+R) a blank disk inserted does not mount, and is greyed out in Brasero/Disk Image Writer etc. However, when I ins...

Re: Fix for Missing Fonts/Letters in Cinnamon
Well, it worked okay for a few weeks, but has recurred in the last few days. This time it's the letter 'l' which goes missing (previously it was 'n'.)
It doesn't affect any text within browser screens, however.

Thanks. Working for the moment, but the acid test will be if it's still behaving in a couple of weeks time.
I will post result.

Re: Missing letter 'N'
Even silly: We have no idea, which system you use at all. What is your version of Mint and what is the desktop environment? If you don't know open a terminal and enter: inxi -Sz Paste the output here. You need to give this information for every help request in every thread. Do not forget this in th...
