Can't paste from Keypass into Chrome
I'm running Keypass 2.26 and Chrome 35.0.1916.153 (both current versions as of now) on Mint 17 amd64. If I copy a username or password in Keypass and attempt to paste them into a username or password field in Chrome, nothing gets pasted. If I do the same copy/paste from Keypass into the same fields ...

No, using $HOME doesn't work either.

Launcher doesn't understand ~/ for my home folder
For example, I can launch a mono app from terminal with mono ~/usr/ePubFixer/ePubFixer.exe and it runs fine, but if I create a launcher on the desktop using exactly the same command, it doesn't start the app. If I change the command in the launcher to replace ~/ with the full path to my home folder ...

BT mouse ok on Mint 16, not 17
The bluetooth mouse on my desktop machine (Logitech bluetooth mouse and Belkin USB bluetooth dongle) was working fine on Mint 16 Cinnamon amd64. I just installed Mint 17 amd64 on the same machine, and setup of the mouse fails. The Bluetooth support installed by default in Mint 17 (accessed from Hard...

Re: Looking for backup software recommendations
I've always just used rsync. It meets all the requirements you listed, and I've had no problem using my rsync backups to recover all my data when migrating to a new PC or recovering from a disk crash. See http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=166230 for a discussion of rsync options t...

Re: digital camera pic's, what program
I use Gthumb to download the images from either the SD card or the camera connected via USB, and either Gimp or Darktable (depending on what I'm doing with an image) for processing images. On my machine (Mint 16 amd64), the card/camera auto-mounts when it is connected, and a dialog pops up asking wh...

Re: Linux Mint 17 codenamed “Qiana”
Is kernel 3.13 works for your actual Linuxmint? You can easily install new kernel versions from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ . Just download the deb files for the architecture and kernel version you want, and then run: sudo dpkg -i *.deb I presently have Mint 16 amd64 running on 3...

Re: VirtualBox and iTunes
Sure it can. You just the configure the VM in Virtualbox to use one of the host folders as a writable shared folder. I use a Windows VM for running the full version of Adobe Acrobat and allow it write access to my ~/.Documents folder.WharfRat wrote:Windows cannot read/write to the linux filesystem.

Re: Installing Win 8 after Linux, UEFI
My machine is dual boot Mint 16 / Windows 8.1. The install order was: Mint 16 Windows 8 (which clobbered the ability to boot Mint) I then booted off a boot-repair CD ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair ) to reinstall grub and get the OS choice boot menu back Boot into Windows and upgrade...

Re: digital camera pic's, what program
I use Gthumb for copying the files off the camera/SD card onto the PC, and Darktable and Gimp for manipulating the photos thereafter. Digikam can also import images from a camera or SD card.

Re: Cannot successfully boot Mint 16 install DVD
p.s. Out of curiousity I downloaded and burned the Ubuntu 13.10 amd64 desktop install DVD. I can boot that up no problem at all, so whatever is causing the problem with the Mint 16 DVD would seem to be peculiar to Mint.

Cannot successfully boot Mint 16 install DVD
I have a machine using an ASUS P9X79-LE mobo running Windows 8.1. I downloaded the Mint 16 Cinnamon and64 DVD, ran md5sum against the checksums to verify the iso file, and then burned the DVD with verification of the media against the iso after burning. So I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong wit...

Re: Can't switch to console when using nvidia driver
The fix for this (works on my system, anyway, I can now Ctrl+Alt+Fn to switch to a terminal) is to add the following commands to the kernel command line: video=vesa:off vga=normal You can either do this manually by pressing 'e' at the grub menu and adding the commands at boot time, or you can make t...

Re: nvidia-settings generates incorrect xorg.conf
Thanks, making the changes in System Settings -> Display works and is persistent across reboots. For some reason I had it fixed in my head that once the nvidia driver was installed I had to make the display changes using nvidia-settings.

Mint 16 amd64 fails to install grub correctly
Fresh install of Mint 16 Cinnamon amd64 onto an SSD with reformatting of the root partition (no separate boot partition). Re: nvidia-settings generates incorrect xorg.conf
I just tried the same procedure that you did but was using Mint 15 and it worked correctly. Was this working for you in Mint 14 or 15? Did you open the NVidia Settings utility using the program's launcher in the Menu or did you open it in the Terminal with the command: sudo nvidia-settings I had th...

Re: Can't switch to console when using nvidia driver
I'm seeing the same problem on Mint 16 amd64 that I installed yesterday. The Nouveau driver was giving me frequent GPU lockups when configured for two monitors with one rotated, so I installed the nVidia 331 driver. No video lockup any longer, but I now see the same problem of being unable to switch...
