Re: Print from LMDE to printer on another LMDE ?

Set you _other_ *nix machine to print to the same Samba share that the Win machine prints too now... On the _other_ LMDE machine: 'Control Center|Print Settings|Add|Network Printer|Windows Printer via Samba' You should be able to figure out the Samba path (smb:) using the supplied example in the 'Ne...

Re: Mint 17 64bit flash player

FWIW. I installed the 'pepperflashplugin-nonfree' pkg in LM17 MATE 64-bit RC so that plugin was showing (and working) in LM 17's chromium-browser. But checking 'chrome://plugins' other installed plugins like java, VLC Multimedia Plugin, etc. were still missing. So on a LM16 MATE 64-bit machine I dow...

Re: Do I need to use a firewall on LMDE PC ?

I know the firewall ufw is already installed. I had enabled it and just found out it was getting the way of sharing the printer with a Win XP PC. So I'd like to know if I need to run ufw. Ron With 'ufw' enabled you need to open a few ports inorder to share you printer. I'm making a few assumptions....

Re: Enabling swap on LMDE

That did it! :D Thanks. Glad it worked for ya. One thing I should have added. If you haven't done so already, comment out with '#' at the beginning of that _old_ '/dev/sda2' line in your '/etc/fstab' file. /dev/sda2 Unknown defaults 0 0 It might cause you headaches on boot up or reboots otherwise. ...

The only thing is now when you go into printers under control center it shows up with a green check mark in the upper left hand corner of the icon...

Re: Hp Laserjet 6P

From you first post: ... i have the url set up as ipp://192/168.2.110 ... Unless that's a typo, there's a problem. I.e., a slash between '192' and '168' where there should be a '.' [dot] ... the print server is a TP-Link TL-PS110p there documentation says it supports Linux printing. According to the...

Re: Help with rules to allow network printer in UFW

I've got a Canon networked printer connected to my router and it uses port 9100 which is standard, but I'm having trouble adding the rule to my firewall. By default, UFW _allows_all_ outgoing traffic so you should not have to do any configuring of UFW inorder to print to your router connected print...

Re: Question re LMDE from Info page

My Question: Why does the LMDE download site give this info: LMDE requires a deeper knowledge and experience with Linux, dpkg and APT. Debian is a less user-friendly/desktop-ready base than Ubuntu. Expect some rough edges. Actually I don't think this goes far enough. Added to the above warning shou...

Hi! Also there is no Duplex or anything under printer options and installable options is not there! Well that sucks. Also i installed hplib toolbox but there wasn't any duplex option either! I suspect that 'hplip' will be of little use to you? See here: https://www.openprinting.org/printer/HP/HP-La...

Re: HP-P1102 double sided problem

Go to Print Settings (I don't know about Cinnamon, in MATE that would be 'Menu | Control Center | Printing') and click. Right click on your printer icon, click on 'Properties'. Hopefully one of your printer options will be: 'Installable Options' ? If so, enable by ticking the box next to: 'Duplex .....

@AlanWalker Take a look at this thread: ==> http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=191&t=164748 <== which was yet another discussion of updating 'gvfs' files, but for LMDE 32-bit. The info found there can be applied to LMDE 64-bit as well. Be sure to scroll down and read the posts _AFTER_ m...

Re: Pepper-Flash won't stay installed after reboot

Pepper-Flash won't stay installed after reboot I think 'pepper-flash' is still installed after reboot. The issue probably is that the '/etc/chromium-browser/default' file is being overwritten which removes the essential '. /usr/lib/pepflashplugin-installer/pepflashplayer.sh' line which you added pr...
