no tun device on Mint-Maya?

Postby hstoellinger » Sat Jul 28, 2012 6:47 am

Hello, I am trying to use openvpn on my Maya-KDE system. However, I cannot establish a connection to the openvpn-Server. looking at lsmod | grep tun I see that there doesn't seem to be the required module. I do not really want to compile the kernel! Any suggestions? Thanks for your help
P.S.: openvpn works flawlessly on the same laptop under Windows/Vista...

hi, i installed maya-kde a few days ago and from day 1 i was able to configure the OpenVPN access on the GUI but could not connect to any server. looking at the system i realized that openvpn client was not installed. so i installed the openvpn client, restarted the network manager and now i am able to connect.

so, in order to install the missing packages and restart the network manager i used this commands

Code: Select all

 sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome
sudo service network-manager restart

hope it helps.

Return to “KDE”
