64 bit?

Post by DataMan »

What are the release plans for a 64 bit KDE?

I'll be starting a new PC build in about a week. Would like to stay with Mint KDE for op re-build but didn't see anything out there in the 64 bit. Hate to have to move back to Kubuntu.

@Dataman,

I second that.
It is time to switsch to 64bit.
New PC's in the last 3 years or so have been predominantly 64bit.

Mint-KDE has been great - but don't overlook the trend of the time.
Don't try to be downward compatible with that "Millenium PC" that was bought 8 years ago!

Mint is a Multimedia Distro and will NOT be used on old PCs anyways.
Also, KDE is not for the faint of heart among the weak PCs.

AND THE BIG MODERN MACHINES HAVE RAM ((lots of it) and 64bit

once the 32bit Mint KDE is released I will start on the 64bit.
There is not much different between the 32 and 64 so it wont take long.

Boo, I can hardly wait. I just installed the x64 Mint 8 and it's terrific, but I really miss KDE. I'd love to have 64-bit Mint with KDE. Mint 7 KDE is incredible. You did an amazing job, but I'd like to access the rest of my RAM. :wink:
