Create an applet for sakis3g

Post by gepponline »

I have an internet key and to make it work i have to use sakis3g.
I've found a script to use sakis3g without selecting every time all options and admin password.
The problem are:
1) I need 2 scripts, one to connect and one to disconnect
2) there are no status indicator so it's impossible to know if I'm connected or not but if i run the connection script again.

So i was thinking of creating an applet to connect/disconnect with sakis3g.
I figure out like this:
An icon applet with two context menu voices (connect/disconnect).
When I'm connected the disconnect item should be grayed out and viceversa.
When I'm connected the icon should change with something that show that I'm conencted.
I saw that many people use sakis3g so why don't create it?...beacuse I'm not able to.
I found this totuorial for creating an applet but it's not enough
Maybe posting here my idea someone can develop it...It shouldn't be very dififcult to do, but i'm a Labview programmer, i don't have enough skills to do it.
What do you think about it?
Have I posted it in the right forum?

Sakis3g was only supposed to a 'temporary fix' - until the end user was able to get their "usb mode-switch" working correctly.
- usually with an update:

however, in later releases, the mode-switch issue seemed to be resolved,
but - now - with even newer usb modems - the issue is back again.

& so - updating the mode-switch data - doesn't always work.

the other issue is that the original site that hosted the Sakis3g script - is offline.
- this guy has backed it up: ... s3g-script
