Code: Select all

sudo apt install mintupdate
If no luck with the above options, just purge and install current version

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge --autoremove mintupdate

tried this too. still no luck. same error when try to remove/downgrade foreign packages

Code: Select all

Yes, unfortunately it's the end of the road for gm10's tools on Ubuntu 20.04 and all that's built on that code base, including Mint 20.

But there is a glimmer of hope: gm10's mintupdate has been "adopted" by the developers of Bodhi Linux; his mintupdate is even present by default in one of its editions.

Currently, Bodhi is still based on Ubuntu 18.04, but it's upcoming new version will be based on Ubuntu 20.04. It's likely that the Bodhi devs will fix gm10's mintupdate themselves, for the new code base. If so, that fixed version might become useful for Ubuntu 20.04 and Linux Mint 20....
I will treasure this "glimmer of hope" and look forward to a port to LM 20

Last kernel that worked is Kernel 5.6: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.6.6/
Kernel 5.7 and 5.8 doesn't work anymore: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.7.6/
This is downloading link for 5.6 amd64:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/m ... _amd64.deb
This is downloading link for 5.7 amd64:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/m ... _amd64.deb
They moved every architecture build into separate folder named by architecture amd64/, arm64/, armhf/ ...
Also I noticed that changelog/CHANGES file is removed.
I think this should be updated somewhere in /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintUpdate/common/MainlineKernels.py file.

Ya, lot of UKUU updates too.
I removed gm10's mintupdate and got the official one working. Sure feels like a downgrade... Wish the mint community could have forked it for LM20.

I don't see mintupdate on his github page. I have no idea if it was ever there, but you can't fork something if you don't have access to the code.

With the PPA installed, and Source code repos enabled in Software Sources this will get you the source code.

Code: Select all

mkdir mintupdate; cd mintupdate; apt source mintupdate

Or download it from the pool without a ppa.

Or create your own Launchpad PPA, log into your Launchpad account and then execute this cloning command in the web browser URL bar:

Code: Select all
