Swift Linux - LMDE-based extremely lightweight system!

Post by x-D »

This is for your lower-end systems. Once based on Anti-X, and now a rolling-release Distro, based on the lovely LMDE - Swift Linux runs nice and snappy on old and new Computers. Basically a way for someone with old hardware to have all the power of Linux Mint/Debian and still come in, with a small enough package for install. It is currently in development, and only the Anti-X version is currently available. We hope to have the LMDE version out by January, and we're incorporating IceWM+ROX, with basic themes, although we're considering whether to offer some nicer looking ones to make the Distro look more appealing. Once this is all complete, we hope to maybe use JWM (same as Puppy Linux) and LXDE, and incorporate these into different spin-off versions of the Distro. This will then give us the 'Super-Lite' versions, IceWM+ROX and JWM etc., and then the 'Lite' version - LXDE, if all goes to plan.

The Anti-X based version is still available at: http://www.swiftlinux.sourceforge.net, and if anyone wants to, they can get it from there, until the LMDE version is available. User 'swiftlinuxcreator' is the main developer on the project, although there are several other members. Thanks go out to the Linux Mint Team, for providing us with such an amazing base, and of course Debian for making that possible as well!
