Hello,

Very stable so far.
At least Mint's xorg doesn't crash because of Firefox (like it did in Ubuntu for me), firefox itself "only" crashes.
One thing I noticed: when adding autostart apps in "Sessions" one of them doesn't autostart: Konversation.
Dark themes are not (yet) available for the main mint menu.
Great work so far.

Greetingz, Monk.

Thank you for that tip. I could not for the life of me figure out why my main rig using normal jack out has no sound problem but my mediabox uses spdif.

Other then that issue, I find it very stable and no other problems bug so far.

Can't login Gnome after I've changed GDM theme. Only in save mode. Recovery default GDM theme changes nothing. (Sorry for my english)

Notice the spelling? Konversation is a KDE app - this may cause it

i've just done a completely fresh install and at the moment, i'm finding it very good indeed :)

one thing i did find though, when i wanted to access the "login window" option to set an automatic login it took absolutely forever to load it up. i did it eventually, but it took a good 2 minutes to load it.

and firefox 3 is running like a dream at the moment - when i tried hardy, i had no end of problems with it but at the moment it's fantastic.

Is it really right for an LTS to be released with something as big as firefox in beta? I replaced it with firefox 2 cos it kept crashing on me.

having problems getting xmms installed.

yes, i know it's obsolete but i like it - it's simple and plays my stuff. don't want to fanny around with rhythmnbox or amaraok.

anyway, went to the software portal and it only offered me xmms2 so i went back to daryna and tried to install it from there but it tried to install it into the default repository, told me it had finished but hadn't actually installed it at all.

will try audacious and see how i go with that.

Confirmed.
It takes very long.

I have a little problem, when I modify from main menu folders or programs they do not appear in Elyssa menu. Is it a known bug?
Thank you
Nikos

Gents,

Not sure whether this is Hardy or Mint problem.
But after 2 to 4 hours Mint has a DNS problem.
Rebooting solves the problem :(

I didn't experience this in Hardy,
Anyone else have this problem in Elyssa ?

Monk.

German keymap does not stay in & Backchannel audio dead

First of all, I have to say, that Elyssa, after a system update, already runs very smooth, boots fast and is very stable.
Really good work, and nice design.
I have to say, I did not read ALL the 19 pages here, so the problems might have been already mentioned here:

Bug 1:
German Keymap. You can install it via the settings panel, and it works fine ..until next boot.
Then the standard US keymapping is in again, means no ÄÖÜ and Y instead of Z
in the selction dialog still the german keymap appears as selected, but you have to reinstall it to get it work again
(I think some entry in some file is not written here that shoud be witten, so the system "forgets" the setting ?)

Bug 2:
On my soundblaster live 5.1 (connected to a 4.0 surround system) I can not get the rear channels working. Tried every setting in mixer...but no sound.
Front channels are working finde (in Darya front and rear was working)

Only one channel working on mine as well.
I just installed it after getting a hard drive today specially for that purpose because i want dual boot with XP (I know but I'm Linux newbie and still need XP in case i mess up something because I'm learning now and experimenting :-)) and have the same problem probably will do in other distroes but again I'm newbie if you can help me with 5.1 setting for creative Audigy 2 ZS settings.
Other thing is the location selection in the install just wont work for me cant manage to do what i want it just keep spinning around the globe but i was pleased whit booting option for booting other OSs which you can select from list like XP which i got on other hard drive love that.
Other think is that i was unable to play a mp3 files with included players and I think instead of something else can be putted like Amarok player or to put something which will allow you to play mp3 files (if it have any player which can sorry for my incompetence ) sorry but thats not so important because you can always get what you want later :-) and again keep it going Love and will support Linux Mint I think that is the distro which i like.

Hi all,

First of all I like to say that Mint is the best Experience for a Desktop Linux that I ever had. I had a really good out-of-the-box experience.

So far I did not found very much bugs, I noticed that sound isn't working after resuming from standby. I am a snd-hda-intel (ICH8) victim. I will try
"options snd-hda-intel model=acer" because my notebook is of that brand.

One suggestion: Please get rid of Networkmanager. I tried many many distributions with the Gnome Desktop and did not have one single good experience with this software. It's a pain really, and much to complicated. Many people use "wicd" and so am I, works flawlessly and can replace Networkmanager in terms of ease-of-use at any time. Theres no reason to keep Networkmanager included.

keymap workaround

quick workaround (not bugfix!) for those who also have the reported keymap problem:

1. Edit /etc/x11/xorg.conf:
goto
Section "InputDevice"
set
Option "XkbLayout" "de"
(or to any other keymap you need, on my system, the value was still "us")
reboot the system
after that, its not all done.
you will have to go to the gnome system settigs, open the keyboard dialog and set the kemap to "defaults" there!
If you dont do the last step, keymap will work fine afer boot for a few seconds, but then switches back to "us"
