I actually haven't done anything yet.. planning on doing clean install. Just wondering how to update to LM17 in half a year.

Have I downloaded the wrong version? The configuration is in my signature...

I downloaded this one:
linuxmint-16-cinnamon-dvd-64bit.iso
http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/linuxmint.com/stable/16/

Should I have downloaded this one:
Petra Cinnamon Edition amd64 (build #201311261702)
http://community.linuxmint.com/iso/view/250

Even though it says amd it runs on intel as well. Linux mint just calls 64bit amd64bit for whatever reason.

As I recall, Intel uses an AMD component design and this was the version recommended for LM15, on this computer. Thus my confusion.

Thanks. I assume i am already running the stable. when i go to the welcome screen i get( Linux Mint 16 "petra") No RC(IDK if clem did some last minute bug fixes). But my preferences.d folder is empty.

I'm experiencing a similar issue. The menus "All Applications", "Preferences" and "Administration" are empty. Plain installation in a Virtualbox 4.3.4r91027.
