Thanks Clem. Should we be seeing it in our Update Manager?

Probably next week (from the blog post here > http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2863) >>>
If you want to upgrade from Linux Mint 17 or Linux Mint 17.1, please wait for a few days while we release a new version of the Update Manager to you. In the meantime, you do not need to download or to reinstall anything. We’ll make announcements next week when this is ready.

A great piece of software, a great job, a great day. :D

Can only get exceeded by the next version. And I am quite convinced, that Clem and team will again achieve this.

Open the folder /etc/apt/sources.list.d as administrator (right click on the folder sources.d), open the file official-package-repositores.list and change rebecca against rafaela and save, start systemupdater and reload and install the updates. Restart Mint and now you have 17.2 updated from your previus version (17/17.1)

I know the feeling. I feel like a kid on Christmas. :D

I've already tried Cinnamon 2.6 on another machine running LMDE, and it is excellent! Sadly, it's a tad slow (the machine, not Cinnamon), so I'm sticking with MATE on that machine.

Looking great, thank you so much for all your hard work.

Two notes: 1) on my machine (on another thread someone else said this still worked on his setup), using rc.local to set the brightness on startup with "echo $SOMENUMBER >> /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness" no longer works with the 3.16 kernel and caused my system to hang on at least one boot (this is not a Mint issue, I know, but someone might find this info useful), I'm now using xbacklight in startup applications 2) It would appear there is no option on the new power management screen to auto-shutdown on low battery... I've got an encrypted swap so I removed the hibernate.pkla, which leaves me no default option on low battery.

Minor stuff! Again, great work and thanks again (kind of giddy I'm seeing my profile pick on the login screen :) ).

Best,

Excellent easy upgrade, thank you.
I uninstalled my manually installed ATI driver, then did the upgrade, smooth as silk.

Yes, that's something I miss, too.... In Mint 17.2, there's a new version of power manager with many changes (lots of new features), but this is definitely lacking. That'll have to be fixed upstream, I think.

I upgraded from 17.1 to Rafaela then updated to the recommended kernel and updated grub without any issues. :D
Thank you to Clem and the team.

BTW I don't want an auto shutdown on low battery power as my laptop has fried its third battery  ... and my uptime (win or linux) is only a few minutes without power.

Great to see the speed with which more updates are rattling out.

Somebody is working hard :P
