Excellent news. Thanks Clem! Looking forward to it.
Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
Also looking forward to it, as I'm waiting for 18.1 to do a full reinstall, since upgrading from 17.3 to 18 kinda broke my system a litte (still usable though so I'm living with it). Good news

Looking forward to Xfce's 18.1 release. The value of these point releases is having a new ISO that is updated, which means it is a refined version of the previous one. It consists all the updates that you have to run when using the earlier one. I don't mind reinstalling the distro, although you don't have to and can easily stick with the older one and just update it via the update facility.
Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
So will my Linux mint Sarah Cinnamon, does it get upgraded to Serena automatically to Serena?

An upgrade from 18 will be available via the menu in update manager- so not automatic per se, but just a click or two and it will do its thing.

The iso's of the bèta have hit the mirrors (at least those I checked).
Disclaimer: it isn't official until officially declared so. The iso's might be updated in the meantime.

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
The iso you have found have finally been rejected because of a major bug.
So Pjotr, please stick to the rule. No announcements before it's ready. Thanks.

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
So why put them on the mirrors if they aren't ready?
Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
They're for testing purposes (and labelled as such) but the team does not want general users installing then flooding the forums with complaints/queries about broken software.
Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
They had been accepted, everything was being prepared for announcement. And then this critical bug was found and everything had to be canceled. Normal life.turtlebay wrote:So why put them on the mirrors if they aren't ready?

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena”
The Cinnamon & MATE versions were approved for stable release yesterday (LINK) so the official announcement can't be far off... Most mirrors already have the ISOs. I D/Led 2 ISOs yesterday but haven't made any Live media yet...Ben-fortune wrote:...when is the release date for serena
